This is a great light, can’t believe you have the skills to fabricate something like this. Excellent work!

Thanks mate, it’s not difficult really, just takes some perseverance with the old hacksaw & files

You didn’t even use power tools, wow! Can’t even estimate the amount of time or patience you put in.

Well, I used a battery drill for three holes, two in the LED shelf and one in the side of the body for the brass bayonet pin.
It’s mostly just a case of cutting, filing & sanding the ready made tubes and copper bar to the right sizes.
The bezel & switch rings are made from brass driver extension rings though the work still took around ten hours or so.

You make me sick.

This is gorgeous. How are elements like the bezel, driver, switch board and switch boot held in place? Are they press-fit? Soldered?

Also, that vapcell looks pretty good.

Thanks, I think…
Yeah that’s always an issue not having a lathe to make screwed parts, hence the bayonet system and no fancy body designs.
The bezel is siliconed in place and the tail end with JB Weld.
The pill is it’s own unit made from brass tube, 3mm copper sheet and a brass driver ring, all soldered together and pressed into the body. This is made to hold the reflector too.

The new Vapcell 14500 is quite good compared to our other usual 600mAh cells etc.
One of the reasons I made this light was to see how the 7135 driver would perform
I also ordered some Vapcell 16340 cells but they disappeared en route, all I got was an empty box!
I’ve tested the 14500 with a FET driver too.

Great mod CRX as usual! :+1:

Yes, it was definitely a compliment :stuck_out_tongue:
Thanks for the build process details. I doubt I’ll ever have real access to a lathe, but it inspires me to see such an elegant light made without one.
