I didn’t realize until about a month ago that you could even get 80 cri 70.2s
any of these options maybe? (pulled from TA’s MT09R modding thread)
Highest P2 bin 70cri XHP70.2 tints:
5700k
4000k
*1 bin below P2 – N4 bin 5000k 70cri (should be really close to the Q8 tint)
80cri xhp70.2 Tint options:
*4000k – Shown to consistently do 20-23k lumens depending on the LED lottery
3000k – NASA had me install these into a GT for them, looks like an incandescent light, pretty neat actually
Really the most interesting would be the 4000K 80 CRI but any of the above or similar would be amazing and I’d definitely be willing to pay for them.
I know I could just re-flow them but I live in Canada and it’s very hard to find dealers who carry these high tint/cri bins that ship here
The one that we are probably going to get is the 4000k XHP70.2 as usual, either 70/80CRI.

So far the 70.2 lights I have at best offered the 5000k 70cri.
I think we are in the golden age of leds or about to enter it. Without lights like this leds are utterly boring. Small girly cokecan lights etc.
As someone who is use to carrying a 12inch spotlight this is compact and almost edc. I do weights however. this things size is nothing to me.
What’s your occupation that requires carrying a 12” spotlight?

Well, EDC does mean Every Day Carry, right? Search and Rescue is one occupation where a sizeable spotlight could be carried every day.
lol I agree except for the fact that I have a friend in S&R and 80% of their job is actually in daylight. The majority of what they end up doing is actually running crime scene object of interest searches

GT4 would make a great dog walking light. As such - it could be carried every day.
Well, as long as your area is not overly urbanized.
I do not own any large thrower style flashlights. The most powerful flashlight that I own is the BLF Q8.
After seeing the cooling fins, and the design appears to be setup to handle a lot of heat, I am interested in getting one of these.

I too do not have any large style throwers, only some single 18650/26650 throwers and floods. I wonder what my neighbors would think should I use this as my dog walking light? 
urban/suburban environment be damned, I’d give it a go for the simple comedy of it!
Been following since the thread inception, any new information on revisions and production release? +1 for the 4000K and highest CRI possible.

I’ve been debating purchasing the MT09R. I just realized that you’re the only person with a GT4 and obviously have many MT09R to compare it to.
Obviously runtime is completely different but lumens I’m assuming are similar?
I’m curious just how much larger the hotspot is on the GT4 and if you notice a serious difference between the MT09R and the GT4?
I’m aware the MT09R only has like 650m throw and the GT4 has 1500m (or so) but in the real world those numbers don’t matter much beyond 300-500m. I night hike and some of the biggest clearings I find are only 600m long. So for instance, at the creek you take beamshots at or in your testing just how different are the two?
