[Canceled] Sofirn SP70 BLF Edition

Thanks Scallywag, I’ll check that link out. Always keen to learn more.

The proposed specs sound good. I love the look of unanodized body of BLF A6 and Convoy L2, so I like to have that if possible.

Me too. I just wish it had a real strobe like the SP33. Then I could freeze the drunks I encounter.

Turbo doesn’t work?

does it mean not so many people want a BLF SP70?

I understand that, there are already 2*26650 lights, or even big 4*18650 monsters. I have to say Sofirn is late. :frowning:

I think there have been enough good suggestions for an upgraded version. Not much more anyone can add

I’d be interested

I don’t know about the 4*18650, but I haven’t seen any standout 2*26650’s. I think the SP70 might be a smaller market because it’s in the middle range of throw and flood. For me its ideal, I like the combination and I’d like it even more with a NW, some BeCu springs and an AR lens.

你好巴里,

I got the impression that many people on BLF (and TLF as well) wait for the SP70 BLF edition. I presume the actual interest will depend on what Sofirn is about to improve on the BLF edition. What changes are you going to commit to?

I think the light is still wanted but is not getting much attention as it normally would. It’s been a late spring in North America and people are just getting outside for yard work and recreation.

The FT03 and new Emisar are getting quite a bit of attention. The lantern and FW3A are getting even more attention. Even the C8G seems to be forgotten at the moment, surprising for a boost driven xhp 35 in a C8 at that price point.

Plus the SP70 is an excellent light as is, especially for the price. A little bit of modding seems to really pay off. Maybe tweaking the C8G driver to work with two cells in series and driving an xhp 35 at max would perk some people up. Just need to get the smooth reflector working good.

There are a lot of good suggestions. Proper BeCu alloy springs. Different bin XHP70.2. Anduril or NarsilM driver.

Sofirn's response to these suggestions would be nice.

But, it's BLF. I'll just mod it while I wait.

As said above, quite a few people are waiting on the BLF-edition.

Sofirn is not late with the SP70, a 2*26650 light like the SP70 is unique thusfar because of the size of the reflector. It is substantially larger than the Convoy L6 reflector and will potentially throw a lot better. But the size of the reflector of the SP70 still fits the body size and the SP70 is therefore a very managable flashlight, unlike the BLF GT that is too chunky to carry for many people.

If the SP70 gets a well-made smooth reflector (perhaps a bit deeper than the current OP reflector?, but that requires re-designing the head), and does a good job on focussing the led inside the reflector, and keep the other current qualities of the SP70, I’m sure the BLF edition will be very popular.

Good quality smooth reflector, shaved XHP 70.2 @ 5000K, SS bezel, good driver with easy UI…………………………yes please.
My Keppower 26650 / 6000mAh are just waiting for this beauty to arrive. :+1: :+1: :+1:

Cheers,
Nico

I am waiting for the BLF Edition.

I’m waiting for a BLF edition too.

When you look at other lights in the Sofirn Official Store, this one for instance:

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Sofirn-C8G-Powerful-21700-LED-flashlight-Cree-XHP35-HI-2000lm-18650-Torch-with-ATR-2-Groups/2933049_33009118261.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.1.58813ebahkln2h

Scroll down, they show pictures of some of their other lights. One’s a Sofirn-BLF SP70.
Did they jump the gun, or being a little disingenuous?

The current SP70 is called BLF-SP70 by Sofirn because BLF was strongly involved in the development. It is confusing but that is not the BLF-edition yet that is discussed in this thread.

Confusion in their listing, considering it says 5500 lumens. I would think with the potential upgrades that number would be higher?

Much higher.

Just changing the 6% IACS steel spring to 22% IACS BeCu C17200 springs would be a large upgrade.

Getting 38% IACS BeCu C17530 springs, an AR lens, and higher power components could easily push the light output to 8000-9000+ lumens.

I’m willing to put in on this. Consider it uses 2x 26650 but single XHP70.2 , i’ve would exp 8000+ lumen, since today single battery xhp70.2 produce about 3000 to 4000 lumens. If you look at SP70, with its 5500lumen…isn’ that close range to “single battery category”?.

Finally, thinking about what worths for waiting the blf edition : High-Drain cell only(26650 or 21700?), BeCu spring, benzel design, AR Lens, suitable specific driver(think about 2x cell feed 1x led)

Thinking about flooder and trower sometimes make me confuse. But since i am floorder user, a frequent night searcher, I want Turbo give me its fullest range of its limit capacity over given its max period of time. I’ve seen Sp70 ofcourse but why I wait is becos I want clear comparison of both so that I can know which one is my pureest desireeer…. CHEER!
