Recommendations for a full featured easy to use charger

Have you checked your cells just after charging is finished?
When My VC4 finish charging the cells are 4.22

In fact, you could say, the more pluses and minuses, the more batteries it supports…

+1 for the MiBoxer, it’s kinda my “goto”

I would recommend:

1. Full automatic - XTAR VC4S
2. With manual settings - Miboxer С4 Plus.

I’vce been using the Miboxer C8 for about a month now, so far so good. It’s idiotproof, its got only 2 buttons, it does everything for you out of the box, you can easilly configure current if you want, it seems to work like it should whetehr its 10180 or 26650 or Eneloop AA’s. I had tons of chargers over the years, this one seems fine.

Does that Miboxer С4 Plus have settings that you could use to charge to 4.10v instead of 4.20v?

No.

Nothing under $50 is going to have adjustable termination voltage. A few chargers will do multiple chemistries so you can charge under and over 4.2v by setting that.
There is a hidden switch on the underside of the Opus you can access if you cut a hole in the case bottom. That will allow you to change that one.

Liitokala Lii-500

  • Economical
  • Easy to use
  • Measures discharge capacity
  • Does a good job.

I actually ordered that unit with one of Mad Max’s coupon codes via banggood, but it arrived with a busted lcd.

I just received my refund, so I figured I’d see what everyone had to say prior to placing another order.

Busted LCD… that’s bad luck. :frowning:

Yeah I like the Lii-500. I have the Opus that does the same stuff the Lii-500 does… but I like the Liitokala much better.

Better luck on your next one… whichever you get, hope you receive it in one piece. :+1:

Thanks everyone for the thoughts and suggestions.

Based on your recommendations, and further reviews of the chargers you’ve recommended, I’ve decided to go with the MiBOXER C4 or some variation thereof.

Just keep in mind, the C4 cannot perform discharge capacity test. Not sure if that was one of your requirements or not.

That to me would’ve knocked it out of the running immediately. I like my (Nitecore) i4, but that it can’t do said tests means I rarely use it anymore. :frowning:

I needed a charger to do the longer 21700 cells and I went with the Miboxer C4-Upgrade. One amp for all 4 bays, or 1.5A for two bays is adequate for me. I’ve been happy with it. I like that it has the option for 12v with a standard 5.5 x 2.5mm jack or can plug in an AC cord. The Miboxer Upgrade C4-12 only has 12v input which is fine by me too. I use a 12v power supply that can source more current than most wall transformers. Nice to be able to use in the car.

For discharge capacity testing, I have a dedicated capacity tester (a ZHIYU) and didn’t need it built into the charger. (but seldom find a need to use it anyway). The new Miboxer Upgrade C4-12 (now has two yellow buttons) wasn’t available when I got my C4-Upgrade. Still waiting for it to become available on Amazon.

That’s within spec, which is 4.15v - 4.25v.

All my chargers have slightly different termination voltages. I prefer the ones that terminate a little under 4.20v, but some terminate higher. It won’t damage the cells, but you’ll get maybe 10% less cycles from them. You’ll also get a bit more capacity out of them, though probably only 1% - 2%.

My Xtar X4 terminates around 4.18v. So, I don’t think Xtar is designing chargers to terminate high. It’s just the random variance in the chips that all companies use.

I think my next charger will be the SkyRC MC3000, because you can set the termination voltage to whatever you want.

Hmm, wondering if anyone’d want to try one of these for custom termination-voltage settings…

It actually looks pretty good for that, as long as it’s consistent.

Apologies for hijacking the thread…

This C4-12 version 2. Does anyone have a link on amazon (I’m in the USA) for this charger?

What about this:

https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Charger-Rechargeable-Batteries-Universal/dp/B07GZRBRGX/ref=sr_1_3?crid=98EGZRY1TYSI&keywords=miboxer+c4-12&qid=1557938777&s=electronics&sprefix=C4-12+miboxer%2Celectronics%2C188&sr=1-3-catcorr

From my cursory search, seems the C8 is not a discharge unit, only a charge unit? Is the C4-12 V2 an “analyzer” the charger like the opus 3100?

As was mentioned a few posts back, it’s not on Amazon yet.

Correct.

No.

I use the sky rc now for most of my charging needs.

At BLF we have our own custom lights…but no a custom charger.

I agree there is not a single one that could do it all.
I would gladly buy such product. Maybe we could talk with manufacturers to produce it?…
