Acebeam UC15 - brightest dedicated keychain light yet!

My UC15 broke with little use, my 2nd Acebeam to fail.

What has happened to your Acebeam UC15?

Button wouldn’t depress.

Good luck getting warranty service with Acebeam, without having to ship it to China. Same with Nitecore

Finally had a chance to test mine out today and it works as advertised, has lockout, etc…

Got it mainly due to the $20 deal, but am also stoked to have the UV light. Had some fun dazzling the kids with their first blacklight experience. Hope it holds up for me.

Just my opinion, but the uv on this light is a joke, compared to something like convoy s2+. Ok for a keychain light, I guess.

I’ve looked at the Convoy UV, but never felt like I’d use it enough to justify the purchase. For the price I paid on the UC15, the UV is almost like a free bonus. I think it works well for what it is, on 10440’s anyway. I don’t doubt there are better options for the UV enthusiasts out there, but I like it.

I think the joke on this light is the red emitter, it’s far too bright for my taste, doubt I’ll ever use it.

Maybe you’ll find it less bright with NiMH cells?

Got mine from the amazon deal.
3 closely spaced levels in the normal sequence, long press from off for a too-bright moonlight, double-click for turbo.
Sometimes hard to get out of secondary emitter group, double-click solves that.
If I long-press it will go past white and red then flash 3 times. Have to release after 3rd flash or it won’t take.
Perhaps the levels would spread out if I used 10440s but I don’t have any and don’t need the super-high output.
UI is meh but the build and battery versatility make it a keeper IMO.
The multiple UIs coming from the same sale is a bummer. .

Yeah, mode spacing, at least on NiMH cells, is pretty bad.
What’s currently a moon mode should be a low mode. And a moon mode should be something much lower.

My other gripe is its inability to tail stand due to the keychain loop being there. If Nitecore could figure out how to make a keychain light tail stand on a much cheaper TIP, why couldn’t Acebeam on this light?

It gets worse with 10440s—— brighter modes —— gets hot pretty fast—- the only thing it’s a nice little wow light with lithium

Got mine from the amazon $20 deal, another lemon. Same as Blackbeard’s UC15.

3 modes on the main group + turbo and strobe, nothing else.

Long press from off does nothing it just turns on the main emitter when released, no matter how long I hold it. Tried with alkalines and eneloop but same thing.

Seems like they flashed it with a FW from another flashlight.

Will try again with 10440 when I solder a blob on it.

I also got a UC15 from the $20 Amazon deal. This is a spare, since I already had one I got last year.

The new one works perfectly.

Received mine from amazon deal. Works perfect with buttontop efest 10440. What u guys use the uv light for?

where did u get the button top Efests?

I don’t think it was even on their radar. The end screw is captive so you’d need to mod a screw to replace it or face losing it every time you changed the batteries.
After that hurdle you’d need to remove about an 1/8” from the end of the clip so you could face it straight up.
The only reason I’m even writing these negative comments that the company will never read is that, despite all these issues, it could be a light our grandchildren would fight over.
There are so many design elements that, to my eye, seem like someone put a lot of effort into designing and manufacturing.
Consulting with the flashlight enthusiast community would be an insignificant task that would eliminate so many issues.
I’m not talking design by committee, but they could just reach out to a few members. BTW, at this point I’m talking about all manufacturers. The issues with this light pale in comparison to some!
I guess it just doesn’t matter.
Hoping to be wearing blue jeans again with the 5th pocket, perhaps the UC15 will fit in there. May have to mod the switch to make it less sensitive, not a fan of locking out lights every time I use them.

The problem with my UC15 was the batteries. Moon, red, UV and lockout only works when 10440 is used. With alkalines and nimh I only got L-M-H turbo and strobe.

You can use it to see how filthy your toilet really is lol.

Check if your money is counterfeit, mineral hunting, etc…

I’m headed to the Outer Banks in a coupla weeks and plan to light up some ghost crabs for the kids. They’re supposed to glow under uv the way scorpions do.

Sounds like another defective UC15.

Also, the moon mode should engage when you hold the switch for about 1 second from off. However, the moon mode is not much dimmer than L mode, so it’s easy to confuse the two.

Yeah defective for sure, but I plan to use lithium anyways and for $20 I won’t go through the hassle of return or dealing with acebeam’s warranty.

I wonder how many other lights from the amazon deal were defective without people knowing? The only way to know is to test with alkaline/nimh.
