ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

In the market again.

I’m really liking my Ganzo 7582, but it’s a bit big for EDC. Ideally I’d get a Pro-Tech Calmigo, but they are spendy.

I messed with some spring loaded tab and flipper tab assisted knives and I think I can get along with them.

Looking for a 2.5” blade, and relatively thin profile, simple no serration drop-point.

What’s out there?

The CH Outdoor and GoComma stuff look ok. I’d prefer something with a axial/axis lock as I’ve got a youngin in the house.

New FH41, the best Ganzo knife :sunglasses:

Where did you get the blue one?

I’d like to get an FH41 or FH51 (more my edc size) but why can’t they add a standard clip to the package?

And seriosly, these two examples have an extremely different main grind.
Once I’ve had 4 SRM 910 variants at my place (910+, 911, 912, 913) at the same time, the main grind and ricasso where exaclty the same.
Seems Ganzo is still not on par when it comes to consistency.

But ok, for $20 I might get an FH51 in smoked orange or w/e they call it

Aliexpress

Just curious, what do you not like about these clips?

Deep carry clips always bite my palm when I intend to really use the knife, same with the SRM 710s non-deep-carry clip.

For me only simple tip-up clips are working. It’s fine that they offer those dc clips, I’d just like it more if they’d offer both.
A bigger variant of this clip design would work well I guess:

And if the clip holes would be as far to the butt as possible it would work even better but it could need a lanyard then.

Maybe like this even though I’m not happy with the angle. Drilled the holes myself so no one else to blame :stuck_out_tongue:

Still I like the new Ganzos, esp. the FH21, FH41 and FH51 but I have so many folders that it’s hard to justify another purchase when you’re on a tight budget. On the other hand it’s easier to be nitpicky, sorry for that

OK… thanks for explaining. . I was just curious cause I like those deep carry tip up clips, they are a ’personal preference’.
No need to apologize for being “nitpicky” though… we’re all that about one thing or another. . .

At last someone who feels the same as me about pocket clips. Those Honey Badgers everybody loves have the same problem with the clips cutting into my palm .

Any other suggestions with 2” blades, thumb-flipper assist, axis lock?

Looking through Ganzo’s website you’d think that everything they make is 89mm blade length.

Maybe Sanrenmu has something…

I don't think you'll find any 2" blade except slipjoints and back-locks

Assisted flipper. LinerLock. Kershaw Spoke

BM 485 vallet clone on DHGate :

17cm opened, Ti scales, deep carry clip, brass washers and axis lock.
I love it, but I bet the black coated blade will scratch easily

The problem is he specified 2 inches, not 3. There is an axis lock Sanrenmu 7063 which has a blade of 2.5" if that's okay

First thing I do with ALL my knives is unscrew or Grind off the screws on ALL the clips.
I detest them.
Folder for IN pocket and cleaning nails. Peeling apples etc.
Fixed blade on waist outside of trousers/shorts.
for proper use.
I’d never only have a folder of any size/make for bush work.
They’re toys (sharp).

Thanks folks.

It seems like the Calmigo is pretty much unchallenge by chinese producers.

I should have been more specific - I want a safety on my flipper or auto. Don’t really care about the lock style - just a safety. Spring Loaded Tab is ok too.

The Pro-Tech Calmigo is tiny and includes a sliding safety - just a shame that nobody else really does that in a 2” bladed knife.

Whoa, what a thread! I just stumbled on it.

I currently don’t EDC any knives. The only knife I have is an old Swiss Army multi-tool pocket knife that sits in my tool bag.

I’m looking to purchase a budget knife for camping trips. It doesn’t need to be super small. Something good for cutting food, carving wood, general purpose. I started looking at Honey Badger Flipper (large), but I don’t know if that would be the correct tool for the above application. There is the new D2 version, but it’s $60. Not sure if I need D2 steel. I only go camping a couple of times a year, and even then, I don’t often need to use the knife, so if there is something else for less money that you guys would recommend, please do.

Thanks!

Find that go,comma 10buk flipper. Awesome for the bux…
