What's the current hot EDC?

For me, it's the FW3A.

It's very small for an 18650 flashlight.

FW3A is the hot new thing right now. I’ve been cycling between that one, my modded Nitecore P18, and an Armytek Elf C2… And sometimes my Convoy S2+, because it’s my only orange light.

i’m liking the FW3A, i’ve had lots of tiny lights and the either broke, or had annoying UIs, or were too big, or not enough energy or brightness (AA or 16340).

The FW3A is small, bright, with a great UI, many features, and fairly cheap.

I wish it had a side switch to be even smaller, had USB charging, and could run longer at high lumen levels.

But I can live without all that, it’s a good compromise.

The FW3A has the most fanfare and hype right now, but wouldn’t be my pick, since it’s so new, untested and the promised high CRI emitter options have not been delivered.

IMO, though, the coolest new EDC flashlight on the market right now would be the Fireflies E07. This one had a lot of QC issues on initial release, but we are currently into the second production run and quality seems really good to me. It runs on a 21700 battery, produces a ton of light on turbo, and the quality of light at normal brightness levels is very pleasing due to the high CRI emitter choices.

Convoy flashlights are very nice, and although I have no experience with the T2 someone mentioned, I have no doubt that it is of high quality. They just don’t have the kind of sex appeal as a multi-emitter flashlight.

It varies for me, but due to the small size and high output, the Wuben E05 (after an emitter swap).

Current hot for everyone seems to be the FW3A. For me personally, it’s a Convoy S2+ with Nichia 219C and a Lumintop Tool AA v2.0, both have proven to be awesome.

Reylight Ti LAN with Nichia 219c.

Atleast that’s mine lol.

BLF GT Mini. With a shorty tube.

FW3A… atm.

For me (atm) it’s Sofirn SP32

I love it for really useful low light and long run time

Not the newest light, but to me the Emisar D4 is to be mentioned. Very compact, side switch, runs on 18650 or 18350, up to 4k lumen with XPL, large choice of emitters, great quality… plenty of reviews. You can’t go wrong with this one.

I have the D4 and the FW3A - they’re different, but both good. Neither are cheap in comparison to a Convoy, which I also have in several flavours. My two most used of those would be the M1, and the S2+ in both long and short.

For what it is worth, the D4 and the FW3A are both much of a muchness. I’m using the FW3A as my headlight right now, and it suits that purpose better than the D4 due to the tail switch. The D4 is better in the hand with the side switch, I think. With a 18350 tube the D4 becomes a pocket rocket as well, though it has to be twisted to off to avoid disaster.

In summing up, the FW3A would be my current choice for a desert island trip. Ramping UI and a tail-switch for pocket use would just edge out the D4.

None of these are my EDC though - that’s an i3S Olight  Cheap and cheerful, but oh so reliable and useful.

D4S is my favourite.

I really like my FW3A and have been using it quite a lot. I like so much about it, even the HI leds. I wonder if I’ll even get one with hi cri when it comes available.

Who am I kidding? Of course I’ll get one! $30 is quite a bargain.

Mine currently is a custom 18350 S2+ in grey. triple 219b with Texas Avenger driver. a really, really nice light.

Right now, I would have to give a vote for my two, new E07s. They are perfect, yet don’t get mentioned as much as the Emisars, because of initial production quality issues. But that has all been solved, since March with their latest run. Unlike the Emisars, the E07 has an illuminated side switch, which is a must for me. The auxillaries are also a nice feature, missing in the D4 or the FW3A. Only a bit bigger than the FW3A, it gets amazing run times with a 21700 cell, not to mention all of the great emitter choices. I selected for one of my E07s, the Nichia 219B for a high CRI, while for my other, a Cree XPL Hi V3 3A, for maximum output of 6900lumens.

An honorable mention, must also be given to my D4S, which is comparable to the E07, with almost everything, except for lacking the illuminated side switch. It hosts a longer lasting 26650, making it a bit chunkier than the E07. However, it is a bit shorter

For me the Convoy S2+ is a staple flashlight. I carry one on-duty every day and it simply works. I have them mounted on several of my PCC (pistol caliber carbines) and shotguns as well.

For off-duty EDC however I carry either the Nitecore EA11 or EC11. They have all the functions that I like and use.

A Nitecore SRT3 for my vehicle. Again, has all the functions I find useful.

For me Zebra sc600w mk3 Hi. Perfect light.

I find this interesting because I found that I was quite unimpressed but that one. I got it and the Sofirm SP10 V2.0 at the same time and even though the Sofirm is much cheaper and not as bright, I find it to be a much nicer to use light.

FW3A for me

prior was Tool AA v2.0

prior was Fenix PD35-tac
