Sofirn C01S SST-20 4.000K 95CRI / Low-High version available again!

It’s orange but it looks more like yellow to me. Get the smallest bottle of NOA 61 - you really do not need much.

Sorry for the Ultratac A1 being absent (it’s in the truck ATM), but does this lineup do it for ya?

PS - my BLF Edition C01S came in today!

Thank you!

I would not mind stainless. I have two stainless steel lights and they keep looking great after years and years of keychain use.

I just use silicone glue [the white stuff that comes in a squeeze tube]. I just put a dab on the bottom of the whole and press down until level with the light, and wipe off any excess that squeezes out.

Oh dang, thats perfect. I have a E05 and a Mi7 and that really shows how small this little bugger is.

I just got the light yesterday evening and I really like the light it produces, tint and beam. The two levels are good. I didn’t like the unannodized look at first, but the industrial look has grown on me now.

I got mine too. I only wish the knurling wasn’t so fine.

Now that I have one in hand I think I may not appreciate other materials as much since it’s basically all knurling. The other lights in gchart’s picture you can see only put knurling in the front and back primarily.

Stealing a pic from Tally-ho in another thread I think some of the knurling could be a bit wider on the head and then the body knurling replaced by something like this to better appreciate the material and still keep it a bit tactile:

I missed it. I’ll wait for the next run. Also interested in alternative material (but not copper).

I understand from Barry that there will be more un-anodised C01S lights, and also clear anodised, and they will try brass. There is no certainty about the numbers.

But still low-high correct?

Those three finishes would be awesome.

Any word on about how long it will be before they go into production?

With this knurling the thing is going to feel like a penny that got run over in the street 100 times. It needs some changes if it’s left unfinished, even as aluminum IMO

I got my first BLF version in yesterday. The low- high is a necessary change imo. I prefer the anodized version better so I put a new head on the anodized body. The tint and output levels are perfect. I have two more coming in at some point but this combination is a great backup light for me.

I was not aware that the knurling was so bad? When the C01 was developed I asked many times for a fairly agressive knurling, but they never did that. Nevertheless I find the knurling pretty ok, on the head it is good enough, on the body too shallow but overal I find it acceptable.

I’m not sure what constitutes “bad” when it comes to knurling. It’s grippy so in that respect it’s good and does its job but when it comes to the body tube, like you say, it’s so shallow it just feels like sand paper and I dont think brass or ti or copper will really be able to shine cause it’s not got any smooth parts on most of the light.

I see your point now. For me it is not something that bothers me much, I will love a brass version and will never polish it

I sure hope they keep it low-high. There was a poll either here or on Candlepower about low-high versus high-low, and it was a landslide in favor of low-high.

I’ve never seen clear anodization IRL but I’d try it. I’d honestly prefer some good ’ol fashioned color anodization, preferably in hunter/forest green. That color is sadly neglected in a lot of releases. Pink or purple would be great for the ladies in my life.

Now that I’ve played around with the raw aluminum version in low-high, I’m impressed. Operation is wonderfully simple. The two modes are nicely spaced. The low is very usable and lasts a long time. The high is very bright and reaches out well for a light this size. The tint and color rendition are excellent. The only thing keeping it off my keychain is that I don’t like the feel of the raw aluminum. I’m really excited about seeing anodized versions in low-high.

Ok I felt bad for poopoo’ing on the knurling without offering better feedback. Here’s a few minutes on a belt grinder. The mid section is clean looking and smooth now and I left the head as is for better grip. IMO, this feels and looks much better to me.

Good idea! I like the grippiness of the head but I feel the body will abrade my pocket. I’m going to throw it on my grinder.
