WTS: Sofirn loot boxes / half-price variety packs

Hi. I’m a little new to selling things here, but I’ve ended up with a lot of lights I should probably find better homes for. Hopefully this is the right place to do that?

Specifically, Sofirn asked if I could test a few lights people returned. They wanted to know if anything is actually wrong, or if the items were returned simply because someone changed their mind.

Sure, I said. I can do that.

I wasn’t expecting so many though… particularly so many which have nothing wrong with them. A few have been quite obviously broken, but it seems like most people returned lights even though they work perfectly fine.

So I have a pretty sizable pile now. And I don’t really want to be a refurbished flashlight vendor. So I’m hoping to send these out in bulk somehow, for heavily reduced prices.

Hence the “Loot Box”. Or variety pack. Starter pack, maybe?

Each box has six lights:

  • One 1xAA light: SF14 or SP10A
  • One 18650 light with a built-in charger: SC31
  • One 18650 tactical-style light: SP31 V2.0 (is basically a Fenix PD35 V2.0)
  • One 18650 EDC-style light: SP32A V2.0
  • One 21700 or 26650 light: C8F or SP33
  • One soda-can light: SP36 or Q8
  • At least one charger
  • At least two lights with batteries included

The retail value of each set is about $200 to $250, so I’m thinking a fair price to sell them for is $100 plus shipping. Inside the US, the shipping companies tell me it’s about $20 to send one of these boxes via their lowest-priced ground service. So $120 total per set unless international shipping is needed, and then things get complicated.

Each Q8 has the latest version of Anduril on it, but the others are stock lights. There’s no “TK magic” of any sort… all I’ve done is make sure they work, configure them to use ramping where possible, and put them in sets so each box has a variety of products. And sometimes I’ve done very minor fixes, like tightening a loose retaining ring, replacing a clip, or replacing a missing manual.

These are refurbished items, so they may not be in completely mint condition. Most are, but some may be missing the spare O-rings or have a small scratch or dent somewhere. They also mostly have emitters toward the cool end of the spectrum, since that’s most of what Sofirn makes. So they’re pretty basic lights, but they’re also pretty decent for normal seeing-in-the-dark purposes.

Is this a thing people are interested in?

Here are pictures from Sofirn’s store, showing some of the items in the loot boxes:

Looks like a great deal for someone that's interested in those flashlights!

Good luck with the sale.

^ what he said

I agree. Thats a very good deal on some great flashlights. Buy while you can before they are all gone.

Somewhere some kid is going to bed without dinner because daddy just bought a big box-o-flashlights.
(not being serious: just having a severe attack of flashlight envy).

I’m a sucker for a good deal. :person_facepalming: . :money_mouth_face:

Sign me up please, I’ll take a box.

I’m guessing you will PM me payment instructions??

TY

A starting modder will have heaps of fun with a box like this. But most of them are great work-lights too, if you actually use flashlights.

I have most of these lights at least once so these are not for me.

I wouldn’t recommend a starting modder to buy 6 $20 hosts at once (shipping included).
$20 is not a high price for a quality host but I would nevertheless recommend to spend less at the start.
And I wouldn’t recommend buying 6 hosts at once. If modding turns out to be less fun than anticipated, that’s quite a loss.

I’ve gotten a few lights from Sofirn to test as well. Amazon makes it entirely too easy to return stuff like this. People don’t know what a 18650 battery is or how to charge them, or how to operate something other than on/off. Amazon charges big fees for returns and storage of those returns, so it’s easier and cheaper to just give them away.

I think it was this forum where someone said they go to a massive garage sale Amazon has at their Lexington Ky distribution center. Selling 10’s of thousands of unclaimed items for pennies on the dollar.

I need one of these boxes like I need another hole in my head. I’m interested

Lordy, I do very much wish someone would set up as a used flashlight reseller.
I have a box or two myself, and they’re ones I bought and paid for on my way here.
Not to mention the handful of unused drivers and such ….

:+1: . I resemble that statement… :money_mouth_face:

Can…. not…. resist… the pull… … yes, send me payment info for one box!!

I would only be interested in a couple but the box Idea is great. Someone will really enjoy that deal. Really nice of you TK to do that.

I’ll have to think about this and come back to it. This is such a good deal, I may not be able to pass it up. No, I’m not addicted! I can stop when I want to! :person_facepalming:

Maybe, or maybe not. Sofirn likes glue. These aren’t mod-friendly in the same way a Convoy S2+ is. Some are definitely moddable, but some are pretty difficult to open.

OTOH, they’re not bad as-is. They’re much nicer than anything I had in my early days at BLF. I recall spending $217 for a pair of original Skyray Kings with batteries, back when they had 200Hz PWM, 2000 lm high/medium/strobe drivers, and non-DTP aluminum emitter PCBs. Starting instead with a Q8 or SP36 would have been fantastic, especially at a fraction of the price.

… and the kitchen scale I ordered just showed up. Perfect timing. That’ll make things a lot easier.

It looks like the boxes are all pretty close to 1.6 kg before adding extra padding and labels.

I’m not really accustomed to shipping things, and I’m still catching up on messages, but I think I can probably get the first ones sent tomorrow morning. Er, morning for me, anyway… gotta get up early to be out during business hours.

PMs sent.

Whoah, this is quite the enticing offer! Too bad shipping would be international for me.
(And I guess I should reduce my overspending on flashlights too.)
But this is a really great deal you’re offering to the other members here!

A bit off topic, but the hand holding the lights seem to be male- not feminine.

I thought TK is of the female persuasion.

Back to topic. My FAS (Flashlight Acquision Syndrome) is strong, but I must resist!
