BLF Interest List: EX3 High Current Beryllium Copper Silver Plated springs - Still selling my springs :)

Anybody can still enter the BeCu spring GB BTW.
It’s not nearly done yet.

People can still enter for the best spring design yet.

We are at:
571 Large BeCu Silver+Copper plated springs
507 small BeCu Silver+Copper plated springs

That’s pretty much what I meant.

Copper doesn’t need to hold the strength on its own, when they are joined together at the top and at the bottom steel should push it up.
And no, double BeCu won’t be nearly as conductive as that.
1 mm copper wire (AWG18) has 50% better conductivity than 0.8 + 1 mm BeCu (w/out extra coating). Furthermore removing coils should reduce the conductor length. And…without tight coils I think that conductor could be thicker.

OK guys.

I’m going to ask the manufacturer if this is actually a good idea or not, and we’ll see what they say.

I already know the answer, but might as well ask someone which perhaps has more practical experience than us.

If they say it’s good, then I’ll just not order the large spring, and use this steel+copper spring array.

If not, well…

Just seems like you guys are getting closer and closer to something like this:

We are at:
596 large BeCu springs
532 small BeCu springs

We are at:
621 large BeCu springs
557 small BeCu springs

Preliminary specifications:

Spring upper diameter: 6,25mm
Spring base diameter: 9mm
Spring thickness: 1,0mm
Spring height: 12mm
Total number of coils: 5
Plating: Copper(25um) + Silver electroplating

Small spring:
Spring upper diameter: 4,25mm
Spring base diameter: 5,70mm
Spring thickness: 0,8mm
Spring height: 10,5mm
Total number of coils: 5
Plating: Copper(20um)+ Silver electroplating

We are at:
621 large BeCu springs
557 small BeCu springs

Just had an hypoglycemia, saw BlueSwordM's location and T & P came out in my mind. Fully naive joke. O:)

Out of topic again if you don't mind, but now that I'm in let me say I also find this pretty funny:

The Semana Santa is just a religious tradition, but certain foreigners seem to look at it in a different way.

Mmmkay, enough with the off topic.

:-)

I would like 70 large springs and 30 small springs.

Added to the list.

We are at:
696 large BeCu springs
592 small BeCu springs

So, we’ve got some confirmation for the final specs.

Large spring:
Material: Beryllium Copper C17530 38% IACS
Spring upper diameter: 6,50mm
Spring base diameter: 9mm
Spring thickness: 1,0mm
Spring height: 12mm
Total number of coils: 5
Plating: Copper(25um) + Silver electroplating

Small spring:
Material: Beryllium Copper C17530 38% IACS
Spring upper diameter: 4,35mm
Spring base diameter: 5,80mm
Spring thickness: 0,8mm
Spring height: 10,5mm
Total number of coils: 5
Plating: Copper(20um)+ Silver electroplating

Will probably be ordering the springs soon.

Just post your interest here, and I’ll get you on the list as quickly as possible.
If needed, PM for large quantities of spring orders so we can discuss more about it.

I would like 10 large and and 10 smalls. Are these doable for a beginner?

Yes, that’s the nice thing.

They are extremely easy to solder to.

That’s one of the main driving points of using these.

Added to the list:

We are at 706 large springs, and 602 small springs.

Have you received the funds I sent you? I’ve never bought from you before and want to be sure you got it, payment message was my username, check the pm.

Yes of course.

I put usernames+private names in an encrypted folder when I receive the payments.

I’m just waiting for the LEDs to ship now, as there have been delays regarding this.

Sucks compared rather than ordering from Mouser, but tint bin trumps everything.

In other news…

Sign me up please for:

1 large + 2 small for my Manker BLF A6 (will those work?)

1 large + 2 small for my Manker BLF X6 (will those work?)

1 large + 1 small for my Lumintop GT Mini (will those work?)

4 large + 4 small for my Lumintop BLF Q8

4 large + 4 small for my Sofirn BLF LT1

8 large + 8 small for my Lumintop BLF GT

Total: 19 large + 21 small 3rd Gen BeCu springs please :D

1. No, not optimally. You want 1x large, and 2x small.
2. Same thing.

3. Only 1x large and 1x small on the tail. No need for a driver spring change since it’s already a BeCu spring.
I did do this mod too. I’ll take a picture of it tomorrow. Fits very nicely.
4. Yes, it’ll work.
5. Yes, it’ll work
6. Yes, it’ll work quite well.

I STILL DO NOT HAVE THEM.
THIS IS A PIC FROM THE MANUFACTURER.

Thank you BlueSwordM, although I'm not sure about 1, 2 and 3 (A6, X6 and GT Mini).

f.e. the outer springs from the A6 and X6 are smaller (7,5mm) than the one on de GT Mini (11mm).

Also your large (outer) springs are 9mm and don't seem to fit on the contact areas provided, which is 8mm maximum for the A6/X6.

For the GT Mini the contact area is even more different as the outer springs are 11mm and resting on the same measure provided thin contact pad (same for the inner spring), the rest is purple print board, so not like the one full contact pad/circle like on the A6/X6...

Counting only on the soldering to make contact with those provided contact pads doesn't seem perfect to me and kind of misses the purpose of your low resistance springs, or do I mistake?

Can you post some pictures of the mods you've done please?

Edit: I could do a spring bypass on all of them but wanted a more clean sollution for my BLF flashlights collection :D
