Nightwatch NI40- De-domed sst40cw/nw and xhp50.2 - new budget throwers @ nealsgadgets

SST40 NW and XHP50.2 NW dedomed

Wow, that looks very nice.

That light is built like an absolute tank.

  • Are the fins sharp or have they been smoothed on the edge?
  • Is that a C8 bezel? Is it the same size as C8 reflector?
  • Can it tail stand? Their last few lights could not :frowning:
  • Is it FET+7135 driver finally?
  • What CCT is the SST40 before being dedomed? 5000, 5700, 6000, 6500? Many options exist now so good to be specific

This looks very interesting. I especially like the heat fin design, which is typical of the Nightwatch series.

What flux bin are the emitters?

I always wanted to try the Maxtoch Archer M1, which is the size of the D1S and GT Mini but brighter and throws farther due to the P2 bin SST40. This light is much cheaper, though this seems much bigger and too bad it doesn’t use the 21700.

Any idea how long the SST40NW version will maintain max brightness (2000 lm) before it starts stepping down?

I like the design, just wish they could get away from using multiple different fonts (including comic sand) for their laser etching.

Any beamshots and whitewallshots of this nice looking flashlight ?

Nice flashlight but 50°C threshold for maximum driver temperature is an absolute no go for me. That stepdown temperature is way too low for using turbo for more than just some seconds. For comparison please refer to Convoy M3 and Sofirn C8G that also have a too conservative stepdown.

I would highly recommend 65 - 70°C instead.

Very nice.

@NEAL
My order please with most CD !!!,please.

SST40NW

Would it be possible to get better pics of dedomed LEDs? I wonder what technique do they use…

can we buy host?

wanna put in flat white for more throw.

Neal, do you see any chance to ask Jackie (Enogear) if he can raise the thermal stepdown threshold up? 50°C is way too conservative in my opinion. Surely, the light will not get too hot to hold but you sacrifice a lot of turbo runtime with such a low stepdown temperature. Thank you!

Enogear?
which light is it

Ooops...sorry, I was certain that NIGHTWATCH is a brand sold or at least manufactured by ENOGEAR, see NIGHTWATCH IRA with XHP70.2 for reference.

That's why I was thinking you could ask Jackie (the owner of ENOGEAR and FIREFLIES). May I ask what manufacturer is behind the NIGHTWATCH NI40?

I would be highly interested into the NI40 but as I said it sacrifices a lot of turbo runtime due to the low thermal stepdown threshold of only 50°C.

Looks like slice n’ dice!
Awesome to see a manufacturer doing this!
AND this is not even a $100 light!

Is the 50.2 a 3 volt led ?, and what type of driver Fet + AMC ?

Looks like host has been added with driver.

Curious about runtimes before step down. Was planning on getting a Catapult V6 but I’ll wait for this.

When will reviewers get theirs?
