TK's Emisar D4 review

wondering if one of the resistors got fried, and the 7135 is not getting fully enabled? If you can measure the resistance and its higher than marked on the part, that would suggest something. Of course if the resistance is lower, than its hard to say if there’s a parallel path somewhere causing that.

Thanks, didn’t think of that. Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the issue as all the resistors are measuring correct. The diode is fine too.

Yes, the version with RampingIOS V2 is the “original D4”. RampingIOS V1 was only shipped on a small handful of lights, so it was basically an unplanned beta test.

That’s odd. The D4 bezel normally comes off really easily, just by grabbing it and twisting.

I was unable to unscrew mine without tools either.

I would say get a new driver board. I messed up programming one of mine, and was able to purchase a replacement from Mtn Electroncics for like $5 shipped.

My new D4 with SST20s, 4000K, arrived today, ordered on May 16.

I asked Hank to flash it with Anduril... check! The version on mine does not have muggle mode.

I've been using a Sofirn SP32A clip, additionally secured with a hose washer, on my other D4 and even clipped to a cap, it holds strong and won't fall easily. Just to keep it in the family, I ordered Hanks latest clip offering and I haven't noticed anything negative about it. Good clip.

And as a BONUS!, I received an LG HG2 inside the light. I think he must have been testing this custom build with it but Thank You! nonetheless.

With the UI of this light, I could almost forget my other lights! For trips, it's certainly my default side-light cannon. I only 'need' a thrower and standard tube light (S2+, SP32A, etc.) to round out the potential niches.

Thank you Hank and ToyKeeper!

Why do I feel an updated D4~ is imminent? (21700?)

(Well they are sold out ya know, and I don’t think the paradigm is saturated.)

yes it looks so, even d4s only green color available to buy now. weird not just have one color atleast on d4 seems its a popular light ?

Someone created a listing on eBay for a new “Gen 2” Emisar D4. Oddly enough, it asks buyers not to purchase it, and it says that it will be available in a week.

  • black/gray/sand
  • aux leds
  • polished stainless steel head (optional)
  • magnetic tail cap (optional)

There are some photos, and the flashlight looks great. It doesn’t look like this was posted anywhere else yet, so it is possibly (likely?) fake.

Do you have a link?

It’s easy to find, not sure if I should be posting the link here, but here you go.

EDIT:
Photos look very similar to others Hank uses for D4/D4S. It might not be fake, more likely someone decided to leak it before Hank officially announced it.

I have seen several overpriced D4s on ebay, although I have not paid close attention to the colors. Gen2 = Anduril maybe? Or more likely he’s adding Lexel’ aux light board, a magnetic tailcap, and quadrupling the price.

It does not look like fake, the changes that you see make too much sense: nice knurling on the 18650 tube and the 18500 tube, finally a cool SS bezel, aux leds, and most important: a promising-looking recessed switch.

Some aux led colors are mentioned, but there could be more.

same as D4S: cyan, green, and red
new: magenta, yellow, and blue

Am interested in the new version! How about full copper! Copper and Titanium?! Am 100% in

That’s my thought as well. The pictures look real.

And it looks great! Definitely appears to have fixed many of the D4’s flaws. :+1:

Does anyone know the measurements kf the D4 lens? I see MtnE sells them and I think it’s the size I need for another light but just wanted to check.

Wow! Interested in this version of the D4 with aux LEDs.

So the rumor was true about a sand version. The new version looks amazing!

I don’t think any of the existing pictures from Hank show quite the same angle on that rock, so I also suspect it is real.

Both aluminum and stainless bezels are shown. I like the idea of providing an option.

Also, an optional magnetic tail cap is mentioned, and a lanyard attachment point is visible.

Personally, I like the feel of the smooth tube on the existing D4. It’s easy to hold onto, yet slides into my pocket easily. Not a big deal, however.
