Any suggestions for a budget powerhouse flashlight? I would be looking at maybe a four AA battery or possibly an 18 650 times one or two. Currently for high output I have a Convoy c8 and S2+ in xplhi and sst20 both with 7135×8… I also have a 5.11 a6 with an xml which I really like. Would be looking for either a thrower or something with a tight spot and nice spill. Any suggestions?
What do you want it to do that your C8 doesn’t do?

Well I’m not sure. Maybe be compatible with primaries? Or offer better cri…
Thorfire TK4A? 1000 lemons from an AA quad. There’s a Sofirn “twin” of it, too, forgot the number.

Astrolux FT03 with a code is a C8 on steroids and Narsil UI. Nice thrower with some spill. Built in charging. Comes with a 18650 adapter or 26650 or even 21700 can be used.
I bought an M21A (C8) host with sst20 4000k and the 5a driver. 9580 cri. You could hardly tell it wasn’t as bright as the ODL20C I sold…it’s great.
But it gets very hot, very fast. Can’t be helped since nobody wants to make a proper high cri throw led…nobody cares…
You really don’t want the stock forward switch though. Reverse is much better and should also last longer.
I only like high CRI, I have or have had in order of pref:
Fireflies E07 219B SW45
Emisar D4 SST20 4000k frosted lens (the lack of some preset levels kinda makes me want to rate it lower though...)
Jaxman E2L 219c 5700k (indoor use only due to color temp)
Jaxman E2L 219c 4000k
Klarus Mi7
Varmint removal (throw):
Convoy M21A C8 ver SST20 4000k (5a)
Convoy S2+ SST20 4000k (3200ma)
Lumintop ODL20C
Sofirn SF11
Sunwayman D40A NW 4xAA light…
I’ve got two of them, both the CW and NW emitter and they run on primaries, lithium primaries and NiMH.
Nifty, well built lights for not a lot of scratch.
