Hello BLF! Been a while! Thrunite contacted me after a long haul of no reviewing and not much flashlight nerding out either. I stop in once and a while and check the recent posts. Lurk around a bit. But I thought this little guy sounded pretty neat so I accepted.

  • My thoughts….

This light is very compact and throws a wide beam from an orange peel reflector that washes everything pretty much right in front you. I actually realized how much I liked that large beam pattern after wandering a dark mechanical room with it. I didn’t have to keep aiming it up and down trying to see everything as it puts out a pretty large pattern right at your feet and in front of you. For me it doubled as a headlamp as I was clipping it to the bill of my hat. It’s not super secure on the hat as you’ll see but it works for my use. Below you’ll see pictures comparing the beam pattern and tint of the T1(cool white) to a BLF A6(warm white). The second pic of the mechanical room is trying to show that you could work with the power out in a fairly wide (about 20 feet) swathe of light. The tail magnet came in handy here. The u.i. is fairly simple and easy to use. The lit e-switch doubles as a charging indicator and battery check. It has electronic lockout and you can also utilize tailcap lockout. While it seems I can almost go months without grabbing a new battery for my edc A6 This guy only went a couple weeks but the weight and compactness made up for it. Also this is my first usb rechargeable so charging it in the truck is handy. On the topic of charging you musn’t lose the cable they send with it. The charging port is is deep within the head (probably for head assembly purposes) and a standard usb cable will not work. One last issue and I have disscussed it with Thrunite in the past…. The green tint. I became a warm white snob from the beginning of my flashlight fetish and they really didn’t ask about tint choice before they sent it so no biggie. It is bright - I wish I had the equipment to check the claims on the manual but it does rival if not beat my spring bypassed A6 in a ceiling bounce test. It did get fairly hot but not horrible. Firefly is definitely lower than moon mode on the A6 as well if that’s what you’re into. In the end this guy has earned an EDC spot in my work-pant pocket for weight and versatility.

Review finished. I hit save on accident earlier. Thanks for looking!

Now, with pics!!

Nice review dudunphy.

Thanks Kindle haha!

I just got mine. Plugged it in to a usb cable I use for everything with no problems. Got bored waiting and put the battery in my charger to finish off. The ramping is slow but hey at least it has ramping and the magnet is impressive. Not a bad effort from Thrunite.

Nice review and a nice light it seems, thanks.

Thanks for reviewing the light!

What is the 20% off Coupon code?

The thrunite link seems to be disconnected.

The code is: 20%

Sorry about that link I can’t figure it out hopefully this one works. :+1:

I see, sorry !

I ordered one from Amazon.

Thanks again!

Is this the 3V or 6V xhp50 that they use?

First Thrunite in years that caught my interest. It almost look like the perfect EDC. I think this light could be a hit.

Patiently waiting for the neutral white version…

I just bought one from Amazon and it exceeded my expectations. For the current sale price of $39.99, it is an extremely good deal for the best 18350 usb rechargeable light on the market. Super well built and very bright. I plan to put a 4xE21A in it in the future.

Anybody know if the magnet can be removed from this light?

Not removable but why would you want that? The magnet makes this thing super practical.

The magnet is removable. I checked first with Thrunite customer service. You have to fish down the barrel with a pair of tweezers to remove the spring and the magnet drops out. Having said that, I couldn’t get the spring back in its slot but the light works normally.

Thanks for the info!

Does the bezel unscrew by hand to access the reflector and MCPCB?
Is it mod friendly for an LED swap?

Thanks

Thread is glued but just wrap it with a wide rubber band and twist it. It comes off fairly easily. The ID of the head is 19.0mm so it should accomodate any mcpcb smaller than that. I’m going to put a 4xE21A VR16SP4 in it later.

Awesome, thanks!

Btw, NW version is instock now and it is still on sale for $39.99 with a $2 clippable coupon. Best deal ever. I just bought another one for a gift light. One of the best gift lights I’ve seen.
