Emisar D18 introduction

hopefully hank will do limited edition of d18.Maybe different material for the host or something.

The light is already really dense feeling and certainly not light weight. I can’t imagine who would want any other material.

In fact, I think the 18350 tube should be seriously considered for the weight savings and for the cool “puck” look.

I would want that. A cu+ti setup like the D4ti run would be awesome and I’d buy it immediately. You’re right though - it would certainly not be lightweight and other folks may not like that, so I may be in the minority here.

maybe i should wait for a while for ‘special edition or something’ before i get the normal d18 version.

  Sounds about right. Its fine though, I like it here

Well I’m probably the wrong person to comment since apparently I’m all alone waaayyy over here, but this is what I’m doing. I don’t need a D18 so I haven’t bought a D18, because I know that if a special run came out I’d want it and then my “standard” one, which I didn’t need anyway, would just be an unwanted extra. But that isn’t a great solution because I do want a D18 and if that special run never happens, I’ve held out for…nothing?

Hank will ship out an empty d18 host, make your own special run

Only useful if at least 30 Watts

Why?!

30W+ would be charging the cells at around 1C.

That would be very high, cost quite a bit, and have the risk of ultra fast charging 1x or 2x cells.

1x or 2x 30Qs might be fine, but NCR18650GAs will get absolutely demolished.

Its the host that I want to be “special”, not the guts. Something besides aluminum, preferably. I mean I guess I could order up a standard host, strip the ano and re-anodize it in some funky color, that might be fun. Eh, we’ll see…

Why not just clear anodize it then?

If you have a power supply and some dilute sulfuric acid, that is easy as pie.

Or you could go for a zinc look with a dilute solution of sodium hydroxide and zinc oxide.

Copper head, clear alu coating body and ti bezel. My shelf queen.

Odd, I find the D18 to be pretty special as is. The craftsmanship alone sets it apart from most manufacturers. I don’t mind alternative materials but the fact you can tint mix makes it pretty custom already.

I line up behind emarkd for the Ti/Cu D18…

hey I bet all of you know skylumen so he sells this light with osram white with 6x white 1 and 12 white2 on the outer… SO here is my question… could it be possible to program the light to turn off the 12 leds on the outer ring to not flood out too much… then turn off the center for less throw… and third mode all the lights for max performance?

No, besides white2 is not floody.

what could be one of the best led options for the d18 for floody or just remove the 12 outer clear lenses and replace with frosted instead

Yea if you want some combo beam it’s better to have wider/frosted TIR on some of them. Maybe even just every other outer lens. Up to you

Has anyone tried the 3000k + 4000k mix? What are your feelings about this mix?
