【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

Simon.
I received your driver for “”M3”“:https://www.aliexpress.com/item/33021024834.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.300c4c4dQrwyVb today and put it in the ”JKK70”:https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32945368027.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dfpUQLC with the xhp70.2.
Thermal protection works very fast. Too fast.
The flashlight is not even warm and after about 50 seconds the brightness decreases. It seems to me that you should increase the temperature protection.

With the exception of gun/combat lights, my perfect light would always start in low or moonlight, then ramp up and down. I suspect I’ll have to learn to modify and flash firmware to get this.

Yes, something is definitely weird. The M3 itself also not even warm when the temperature protection kicks in, but it almost burnt my hand when I took it apart and touched the driver retainer ring :open_mouth: At least it was very hot to touch.

The temp sensor obviously gets triggered by the hot driver. If you can add a copper or aluminum spacer with silicone sheets it should perform a lot better. Try and conduct as much heat as possible away from the driver into the host.

That seems to mean that the heatsinking or heat dissipation of the M3 driver/LED board to the flashlight body/host isn’t that good, and hopefully can be improved next time?

The M3 body is quite big so it should ideally be able to absorb a good amount of heat compared to other smaller XHP70.2-based flashlights.

It’s possible. But from my experience with boost drivers they all need some form of an extra thermal path to run at high currents for long periods. I’ve stripped a few boost driver lights and usually they have some thermally conductive paste that they put on the driver components.

Any idea of the price or timeframe for release on these hosts? I can’t wait to get my hands on a few and get building!

There are chance to see flat pill for s2+ for 20mm led board?
(like s21a)

With as popular as triple mods are, I’m surprised Simon doesn’t sell the parts to make a triple. A spacer, or the whole triple compatible pill like the kiriba one.

Any plans for other colours of the M21A with reverse clicky?

what color? for example?

Clear for all flashlights

I was thinking desert tan but actually I like the standard matt black just as much :+1:

I’m very tempted by the M21A but I would prefer a reverse clicky and a warmer emitter. Are there any plans for these?

Extremely interested in the AAA/10440 host. Any details on a possible release date, MCPCB and driver sizes?

How hard would it be doing a driver swap on the M3?
Any clues from those who have the flashlight already?

And what about desert tan?

The problem is the driver diameter with 26mm. Unfortunately, it cannot use 30mm drivers. So, there’s little to no choice for alternative drivers. The host has so much potential but the driver’s regulation at 50°C is a real downside. The host will not get very warm as soon as the driver already steps down.

I can’t quite tell from the product listing what MCU it’s using, but at least it’s a SOIC8 footprint. So it’s either (1) an AVR which our attiny13/25/etc will swap in, or (2) it’s a PIC and an attiny412 would swap in.

I imagine I could get something cooked up, but I don’t have one of these drivers.

Also it has no physical on/off switch, only an “electronic” button. I mean that the driver is always powered, and it is controlled with the button. If one don’t want to add a switch, it must be taken into consideration.

If someone would build a driver even with this temperature limit, but it would do a dynamic power regulation to hold the limit instead just simply turn down the brightness, I would be interested in it  On a bike clamp I don’t care if it is 50 or 60°C provided that the components can handle it, but if I start pedalling, and the moving air cools it down, I want to get back some of the brightness.

Quite a long tease. Simon when can we order that ti AAA?
