[♛ FreemeGB] Long Battery Tube for ASTROLUX MF01/ MF02/ MF04 Series >> ALIVE

Almost forgot to mention: my battery tube had a dent on one of the threads (insufficient packaging resulting in shipping damage), so I needed to hammer it a bit to let the carriers pass through (I could not push the carriers through the dented side). I thought, that hammering the dented side a bit wider will not make any harm to the battery tube (tail cap can be fully screwed on).

Another observation: no matter, which end I try to screw the flashlight head on, it gets a sudden stop, while screwing on both flashlight heads on the original short tubes results in a gradual, noticeably softer stop.

Also, as I looked at the length of the threads, the original short tubes have a bit more lengthy threads compared to the long tube.

Received mine yesterday. The threads on the one side are not well painted and they do not “feel” smooth at the points where the paint is absent. Not really happy. Except from that it is ok.

That dent could be the reason for the tube to malfunction. To maintain a good contacts between all the components, every millimeters counts. I advise you to contact BG customer service soon. Get ready you pics and video as proof.

Received mine, works OK, small dents on the end of the threadings during transport. The plastic of the bubble wrapping is thin, it would have been better if they had put the tube and its wrapping in a cardbox.

Thank you for the GB Freeme !

Too bad, that I didn’t make any pictures or video footage before trying to hammer the dent.

I also found, that the battery carrier came with this tube, is even shorter, than the original ones. My guess is, somehow, the outer ring section is not pressed enough to make a contact, therefore the negative part is to blame. I will try to make the tube a bit wider at the dent, because maybe one of the carriers is forced into a slightly tilted position by the dent, and thus, it doesn’t make good contact.

@adam7027
The tube is reversible, did you try to put the dent on the tailcap side with the loaded battery carrier on the head side to make good contact ?

Definitely interested.

Please send me the coupon code if it's still available for the Long Battery tube for ASTROLUX MF01/ MF02/ MF04 Series. This is for Package including 1) 1x long tube, 2) 1x battery carrier and 3) 1x connecting "plate" for the carriers.

Thanks for providing us with great deals and tech.

I tried both orientation - if I manually push the battery carriers towards the head, the flashlight works (green switch light starts to breath), but not with the tailcap screwed on.

After I did some experiments, I guess, that if I install a heat resistant plastic ring into the tailcap to add a bit of more length, this tube should be functional regardless the dent it has - probably, who owns functional tubes and carriers already, also will get a better contact, if that ring would be installed.

Placing a second order.

Mine arrived, perfect working order. My package was double bagged, double wrapped in bubble wrap, and then wrapped in newspaper. Works perfectly on my mf01.

Thanks!

Mine arrived today.
Badly packed. It works but one end came dented.

I took mine today.

What about F04S,which takes more current? Is the tube good for this?

Add me to the list if the GB is still active.

Mine came wrapped in newspaper with bubble wrap on the inside. A couple small mars to the threads on either end of the tube from its journey through the postal system. They should have boxed the battery tube, I can see why others are having problems. Thankful mine wasn’t too damaged.

I’m really glad this was made available. I kinda felt left out when I realized the MF04 only came with the shorty tube.

I received my extension tube yesterday. The contact plate actually looks different than on the Astrolux fotos.

The new battery carrier is made of aluminium (the plates and the sticks) instead of brass, so it weighs only 59g while the older version weighs 137g. I’m not sure if the conductivity is influenced or stays the same.

The extension tube was wrapped with bubble wrap and newspaper but there was a dent on one end that needed to be cut away with pliers. Otherwise the carrier would not exit on that end.

Same lousy packing, no damage though, some scratches of course.
Not work first try, need to cut a thin cardboard, put inside tail cap then tighten. Bingo, green led on. :+1:

Brass battery carrier design has replaced with aluminium since MF04 model (early 2018). Not much difference in terms of performance.

I agreed, bubble wrap plus newspaper might not be sufficient. I left a feedback to Banggood few weeks ago. Hope manufacturer could come out with a solution with increasing the price.

So someone tell me, on the MF01, does this add run time, brightness, or both?
Looks like the original tube as two sets of batteries in parallel, so does this double the voltage?
