Amutorch TC500 (New) Flashlight Review - ZeroAir Reviews
The Amutorch TC500 (New) flashlight is a 21700 based thrower, which can reach 900m and runs a single Luminus SST-40. Read on!

Child like behaviour from my side; just look at the pictures and got excited and posted without reading!
Interesting to see a new collaboration from Astrolux!
And I just ordered an FT03 & and Mini GT. I sooo don’t need another thrower.
…wanders off to fill out the form.
Hmmm, driver says constant current. It’s not using a FET with NarsilM?
is this a better thrower then ft03 ? not sure i like the haikelite design and why work with them sudden? whats the benefit for us ?
Banggood states the reflector is 60mm in diameter and the head is 65mm in diameter overall. Same as the FT03. No ramping like the FT03 its a hard sell to step backwards and charge more. WTF Astrolux.
Since when is an sst40 outputting 3000 lumens?
Wasn’t the FT04 announced back in 2018 way before the FT03?
FT04 =! MF04 ;)
has anyone tested a P2 bin yet?
I only found N bin numbers from last year
Interesting - lots of the new Astroluxes have a very Haikelite aesthetic to them… would be curious to see how this stacks up against the FT03 as the reflector sizes are the same per everydaysurvivalgear’s post
I’m excited for the P2 bin SST-40. The dedomed version was used in the Maxtoch Archer M1 that was same size as the D1S and GT Mini but out throws them. Will this be dedomed?
Also why did HL decide to use a proprietary charger instead of USB. That is a deal breaker for me.
interested
Does the P2 Bin really delivers 3000 lm? WOW! Would love to see confirmation.
No, not really.
The absolute highest you can get from it in a light is around 2500-2800 lumens:

The lack of a e s t h e t i c s makes me skip this deal. Haikelite needs to work this part out, their designs are imho not very appealing. Like the recent model with blue bezel and that bling blang golden switch

Feel the same way. Everything after the SC26 is just meh to me.
No, not really.

I would be skeptical of those measurements because we have no idea how his pvc tube was calibrated. This is an important bit of info.

It looks like the charger that the Convoy BD series lights use. A plus is that it’s waterproof, a minus is it’s easy to loose the adaptor. Kind of an odd choice.
I mean, bare LED output could reach 3000 lumens,
The P2 SST-40 has on average 13% higher luminosity.
And looking at koef’s test:
LED-Test EN Luminus SST-40-W Specialty White LED SST-40-CW-A120 UPDATE --- 06/23/18 --- raw data added! (link) This is the english version of my first test (August 2017). Because of more accurate results and some minor changes in the text the german version is no longer valid anymore! I bought this emitter at Kaidomain several months ago. Technical data Tj 85 °C, If 700 mA Order code: SST-40-CW-A120 (unless otherwise specified) Type: single…
With a 13% improvement, 3000 lumen output from a bare LED would be possible, and at 90% efficiency optical efficiency, 2700 lumens on turn on would be possible.
No flashlight is 90% efficient. I use 75% as a general average. I also don’t count the lumens you see for a split second on the meter right at turn on. Doing so just confuses people. I try to give more of an ANSI FL1 type reading. (Certain lights don’t last 30 seconds, so I might do a 15-20 second measurement) I think the FL1 specs are a more fair and realistic measurement that people can relate to.
