What did you mod today?

The beam must be ultra-smooth :slight_smile:

I have a few of what I would call “flashlight crumbs” I would like to give to someone in the USA. There are a couple of new drivers I’ve just never used, some medium/large reflectors, and the mcpcb loaded with xhp70.2 that are probly mostly working out of my imalent dx80. Just post your I’ll take it here and then message me your address. All of it it is going together in one box to one person, if that person wants to regift any of it that is their business :slight_smile:

Wish I was in the US VoB

I shaved a 3000K LH351D (a LOT, might have even taken a hair off the phosphor on one small section) in a BLF A6.

Hot spot w/ 18350 and stock AR glass at ?? volts:

Low to High:

Ambient = 81.0 Lux, CCT = 2880K (Duv 0.0003)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 94.8 [ R9 = 75.4 ]

Ambient = 1391.6 Lux, CCT = 2852K (Duv 0.0005)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 94.4 [ R9 = 73.6 ]

Ambient = 5133.7 Lux, CCT = 2937K (Duv 0.0000)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 92.7 [ R9 = 68.6 ]

Ambient = 11117.5 Lux, CCT = 2924K (Duv –0.0011)
Color Rendering Index (Ra) = 92.0 [ R9 = 64.8 ]

Here was my old post with the dome on:

That’s awful kind of you, VOB. What kind of drivers are we talking?

I’ll Take It —— Thanks

Reflowed (reflew?) some emitters.

(Note: They are straight off the hotplate, cooling down. Haven’t been cleaned yet! :slight_smile: )

4 orange unknown emitters for a “lantern/bonfire simulator” project.
4 219C 5000K to a PL47 board.
And took off 4 XP-L HD (1 broken) emitters, and put on 4 SST-20 4000K

Given my recent journey into reflowing, it has accumulated a lot of loose emitters.
How do you store your bare emitters ?

If I think I will use them again I put them in a small ziplockbag with a label on it, but most end up loose in a boring-parts-box, usually to never be used again. But occasionally I take one out for a build and nowadays I can check tint/CRI before using it.

Not my mod but attention worthy:
Vinh has upped the power of a LEP flashlight, increasing output by about 60%. He may be the first to do so and speak up publicly.

He he is running one of Richards driver’s in it….Regulated VN4

Shipped.

One is a mountain electronics 10mm FET I never got around to using. One is some performer made by a blf member I cant remember. The driver was a big deal at the time I purchased it so maybe chops can post a picture of it and someone will recognize it. The package it came in came from Croatia.

Sounds like a LED4Power driver then

Yep that is it. Looks like I have an old version but it should be a 12 amp capable driver. For sale : LD-2 and LD-M2 driver (Updated) All my comments when ordering are here.

Wow, looks like chops got a VERY nice box of “crumbs” then! That’s very generous of you, vob. :partying_face:

I’ve got an entry for what did you break today

Pulled the pad off the FET (likely already stressed from changing the bezel on my FW3A a few times and re-soldering wires)

Any idea if this can be repaired?

Easy, the copper area under the “Q1” is the same thing

You can carefully scrape the solder mask next to fet. You can do it with a tiny screwdriver or even a needle.

Thank you both! Will try this tonight. Might tape down the wire flat since there’s so little space in driver cavity on the sides.

Sorry for the bad night shots but the phone can not deliver better pics.
First controll shot during the day.

Cometa with Original Jaxman Z1 lens and SBT-70 with 12A LED4Power Driver

UF 1504 with Osram Ostar PC-green ( KP CSLNM1 F1) with 6A LED4Power Driver

Very cool builds and pics, Docc!
