Sorry mate just seen this now. Dome slicing on flip chips LEDs is okay because you don’t have to worry about bonding wires. The LED inside my FT03 is not dedomend because i only bought 4 and have sliced 2 others already. Ill try and put a sliced XHP50.2 in there and see how it goes. The stock MCPCB is wide its 26mm i think so you can fit a washer around the LED easily enough and use that as guide for a straight cut. I’m not sure how low you can go but i used a 1mm thick washer and i went lower than that after.
My SST40 FT03 is dedomend i love it the FT03 throws awesome with it. If you slice the XHP50.2 you will definitely gain lux it will push it over 200kcd but do you want a beam that throwy? The stock FT03 with the XHP50.2 already throws so good. Out does my L6 and S70 by a large margin.
On another note Its good to see more preppers on here.
I ordered today the XHP-50.2, anyone knows the exact BIN and ANSI white tint of the 5700k led used? (I would love if it was 2A tint)
Now I have 2 FT-03’s the neutral SST-40 and the 5700k Cree. Not sure which one I will like the most, anyone knows if the issues with the wood grain texture of the copper MCPCB has been solved for this model? Some SST-40’s had that issue (I had to polish the MCPCB on that one)
Well, I was pleasantly suprised by the 50.2 in the FT03. I have quite a few lights and I will have to say this is my favorite light I’ve ordered this year. Throws really well and the spill is great. Best of both worlds so to speak. The price is what makes it so great. I ordered another one today. Really wish there was a warm white 50.2 3V. That would be the cherry on top for me. Still a fabulous light.
If you are debating getting one, do yourself a favor and grab one. I think you will really like this one.
Thanks freeme, excellent work. I greatly appreciate your help with the discount.
