Convoy s2+ Copper and aluminum with Osram white flat

Would you buy convoy s2+ copper and regular aluminum flashlights with Osram white flat ( the smallest led??) 1 x 1 mm with smooth reflector?? Yes I will buy it if it's turn out the ultimate compact pocket thrower

one more thing I want to see since Simon doing new design for the s2 copper

I want to see better pocket clip please! No detachable clip please we wanted to just like Oveready looking clip or similar lights

You know he sells these clips as well?

I was talking about new ones and better quality and per installed clips like Zebralight and boss...etc

If you want throw from a compact Convoy flashlight, you should get an S2, not an S2+. The reflector is much deeper.

And it has zero advantage in throw. It has just less spill. I tested it extensively. S2+ is good for throw with smooth reflector.

I will have to respectfully disagree. I have both with the same Nichia 219C 90+ CRI LED and driver, and the S2 throws so much farther.

Have you measured it or it seems? S2 have a tighter hot spot with less corona and less spill doesn’t bother your eye much so you can see farther.
I measured it just to get results if deeper reflector counts. And I made the measurements with same driver, led etc just swapped one thing at a time.
Stock S2 with 2,8A driver XP-L HI U6 3B emitter: 11500 cd

Convoy S8 with 3,15A driver and S2 deep reflector and same XP-L HI U6 3B emitter: 12500 cd
Convoy S8 with 3,15A driver and S2+ SMO shallow reflector and same XP-L HI U6 3B emitter: 12500 cd
Previous setup but with AR coated lens: 12600 cd
Convoy S8 with 3,15A driver and S2+ SMO shallow reflector and dedomed XP-G2 S4 2B emitter: 22500 cd
Convoy S8 with 3,15A driver and S2+ SMO shallow reflector and Osram white flat 1mm2 emitter and sanded centering ring to best focus: 30800 cd

From a physics perspective, it seems unlikely that a shallower reflector will throw the same as a deeper reflector given everything else the same.

I think this conversation has been done many time on BLF
It need to have some deepness but there is a point wher it doesn’t matter if you go way deeper. What really matters is the reflected area from front so the reflector diameter. It is the same so it can be the same throw. The beam shape was different but I got same numbers. I don’t want to argue. Here are my numbers and that’s all.

Did you mean: Osram

Warning: As misspelled as the title is this thread is unreachable when forum searching for “S2+ Osram”.

I’ve got yhe stadard S2/S2+ here.

The road at bottom of hill here. Gives me a 650mtr straight,
with a visible curve at the 460m mark.
Has plenty of individual trees.and markers along the way for light beam ranging.
One day I’ll GPS Range them hey.

I’ve never bothered measuring the beam lengths. but when this conversation was on a while back.
I took them both out with Sanyo Battery’s full.

The S2 definitely lights up shrubbery beyond the S2+.
With a lot less spread.
If they weren’t such an ugly/plain looking torch, I’d probably use them.
They a bloody water pipe length with button on one end.

Different strokes for different folks.

S2 is definitely pleasing to me, if you please?

I EDC my Astrolux S1 (similar to s2 size?) 3D with a 18350 tube and wizard pro clip. Love that thing. 18650 tube, not so much.

I Edit it. Thank you

Yes in general s2 and s2+ are very ugly lights!:( I really wish they change the design a little bit

S2’s designs are pretty awesome. Having modified 2 for a customer over the weekend, they are built very well.

And
they always are built the same
Always the same quality
already a few years available
Lots of spare parts available, which always fit.
Easy to mod
Etc.
Etc.

Actually, it’s one of the top 10 ultimate BLF lights

I also like the plain look of S2 and S2+, other lights seem overdone to me.

Total Disagree,I like the clean design of S2 and S2+.
Plus they are much comfortable to carry and on hand
