*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

If you like the flame like tint, nothing beats the Nichia E21A 2000K, which measures 2070K, CRI 95+ and R9 of 95. It’s probably not any more expensive the emitters chosen for this lantern.

The LT1 is designed for easy modding, especially swapping the LEDs if your familiar with re flowing them. Also with the flat head heat-sink area, its possible to even use four 12mm or 16 separate stars of different LED types, ( by drilling screw holes in the head inside surface.

Here we are folks! The refined final production design of the BLF LT1 lantern sent from Barry of Sofirn. From the looks of this, i am very happy with this final updated design. The head with the recessed bail-handle has some added bonuses, the handle is recessed when not used, it has the center-rise for keeping it centered when hanging on a hook or line, the head has a slightly reduced mass/weight, but actually has slightly more surface area for passive cooling, and it is easy to remove the bail handle for those who wish to add a paracord lanyard. Also this design works better for the top-deflector fitting i am designing for the upcoming accessory kit. Other changes including adding back the side threaded hole, (which will be used for the directional side reflector I’m designing for the accessory kit. The red O-ring adds not only an added color look, but its a bumper for accidental tip overs to help reduce scratching & shipping of the anodized finish. The charging indicator LEDs have been relocated to the switch button as well, along with a refined upgraded LT1-Andruil firmware with improved modes and refinements thanks to the team’s amazing firmware developer Toykeeper. once i get to run some quick tests on the final test upgraded sample of this, we hope to begin production very soon! :+1:

Looks good!
Hope it still has the 1/4-20 hole in the bottom.
So looking forward to this.

it does, (will have both the bottom 1/4-20 and a side one added.

Great to “see” some progress. Awesome. Can’t wait to get my hands on one.

After 3 years of development of this, we all do. :+1:

What about the diffuser - it looks very opaque…?!

That is the CGI rendering image)

Awesome guys!! Great progress, I love the adaptions, cant wait to see the real deal soon. Thank you to those who’ve invested so much time and resources into this.

Was a long time lurker, this project hooked me and I just had to join. While it’s no substitute for the actual work being done by a few, having read all the posts in this thread, I feel invested in the outcome, and am proud to be in early on such a cool project. In a weird way I almost feel like I know some of you personally

Definitely exciting!
Cheers all!

Looks beautiful! Can’t wait. Thanks for all your hard work, folks!

I’ll be on vacation from 7/26 through 8/4 with no access to my PC. Hopefully sales won’t begin then since that means no pm’s until I get back :frowning:

Anyone who’s been waiting and wants one should post sooner than later since I won’t be making any additions until I get back once I leave on the 26th.

Here are this week’s additions and the files referenced in post#1 have been updated as well.

Given the news DBSAR posted above if you haven’t already done so now is a good to verify that your BLF user name is correct in either of the files. Since the pm’s will be sent based on the names in the files it’s important that it be correct.

Thanks

Are the 1/4-20 screw holes helicoiled? ,frequent use of that will gall / wallow those threads out in aluminium

I plan to bring camera bipod on every trip with this light I camp out roughly 2-3 nights a week

Hello, when is this available to order?

Please put me in for 3 pieces

Regards Xandre

You do not mention that the diffuser is made more transparant than the prototype. Did they do that after all?

In the team chat Barry has three choices of diffuser, most opaque to least from left to right. Speculation only here for a moment, but I suspect Barry will mail them to DBSAR to test to see which is acceptable.

:sunglasses: that they had 3 types made for testing :+1:

Most likely will be after that so no worries
