In the team chat Barry has three choices of diffuser, most opaque to least from left to right. Speculation only here for a moment, but I suspect Barry will mail them to DBSAR to test to see which is acceptable.
Having a choice of several diffusers of different translucency would be terrific ā this way you can change the diffuser based on the needs. Or have one design with a sliding surface that acts like a polarizer!
How have I not seen this!? Iām totally in for one. I have been wanting a lantern for so long. None have quite hit the mark for me, but this looks great.
The final design looks stunning! They not only managed to make the top part more functional, but also to make it slimmer and more elegant. But another thing I have noticed on the render image, is that the surface around the upper tripod mounting hole is normal knurling. Shouldnāt that area be flattend to have more contact area to the tripod plate?
Hope itās OK to post thisā¦ just brainstorming an idea. A kind of ādynamicā diffuser. It has 2 elements: a fixed inner shell and a rotating outer shell. They each have a polarized half where one is rotated 180 degrees. Hereās the visualization:
This is just a āquick sketch.ā But hope this can provide a seed bed for an evolved design that might be feasible.
The final version is impressive and up for it.
Just out of curiosity ,you experts might have already thought through and scrapped the idea.
Was there any rationale, say $$, for not making the hanging hook ā¦a double-hook hang loopā¦same thing but split to two.
I love the same feature in my current lantern(BD Voyager), its easy to hook it up with any existing hooks/loops without the need for carabiner or s biner, simply split and insert to loop and close it.
Also I do recall few post around where to buy/reaching out to distributors around stocking up on 18650 cells. Are those still in pipeline?I need them for LT1.I just have one for now.Any good suggestion, kindly update.I know our fellow Canadians have it ,in first pageā¦
we abandoned the separating handle idea to help keep production costs down as much as possible. I simply use a carabiner to connect any of my lanterns with a solid bail handle to a fixed line or loop.
Thanks! If V2 remains compatible with the same diffuser as V1, then if something like this is designed it would be compatible with both versions. Conceptually, you are controlling the diffusion dynamically, which can be very useful and convenient (no additional objects needed). Iām going to see about getting some flexible polarizing material and try it out.
