Also it has no physical on/off switch, only an “electronic” button. I mean that the driver is always powered, and it is controlled with the button. If one don’t want to add a switch, it must be taken into consideration.
If someone would build a driver even with this temperature limit, but it would do a dynamic power regulation to hold the limit instead just simply turn down the brightness, I would be interested in it On a bike clamp I don’t care if it is 50 or 60°C provided that the components can handle it, but if I start pedalling, and the moving air cools it down, I want to get back some of the brightness.
Thanks for the reply LP! It just seems that all my modding are being flushed down due to the inexistence of propper drivers…It’s getting frustrating :zipper_mouth_face:
That host seems really incredible and the reflector puts out a lot of light! Too bad the UI (more than the driver itself) is not the best one…
Today I say a review from the Wowtac A5 and it has the UI that I would like to see on this light. Wish that Simon could change it a bit. Even the thermal regulation even if it is not what bugs me the most…
Anyone got one of the original S11s and one of the new ones? Would love to see the difference in the tailswitch board and switch itself.
Failing that, I’m trying to find a 22mm e-switch driver with a non-garbage UI that will fit inside the S11 and get it machined to fit - the new Wowtac A5 fits the bill but I want to replicate it with what I have (I know, the problem is boost driver - maybe 3v 50.2 with a D4 driver? )
Good to see the 5000K SST-40 now becoming more available. Placed an order for a few. One will replace the 6500K emitter in my L21A. Excellent light and will be even better with a slightly warmer tint .
I have an S2 with SST-20 2700K 95CRI. The tint is very warm and amber-rish, a little too much even for me. The hotspot has little bit of green, making it look tiny bit different from the rest of the beam when tested on white wall. My other S2 with SST-20 4000K 95CRI also has this greenish hotspot when shined at the wall, but in day to day use is not noticable. Overall, so far I prefer the XPL HI over the SST-20 in my S2s, the beam is nicer, no tint shifts and it’s a little bit brighter.
Simon,
Are you going to make the 5000K SST-40 available as a bare emitter? I would love to buy about 10 of those. I despise the 6500K but like the output.
