Here in the Sunshine State we have two seasons :

Nearly unbearably hot and humid and then nearly perfect .

It's also known as an evaporative cooler.

They only work when the dewpoint is below about 55 degrees, so like chinooker says, it won't work for you.

They're great when the humidity is low.

Tip of the day: Hold ALT key and on numeric keypad type 248, gets you the degree symbol °

My numeric keypad is full of macros. :person_facepalming:

Hot and humid here.

another near perfect day in Santa Barbara. high was somewhere in the 70s, a bit of damp fog in the morning, but beautiful in the afternoon. Supposed to be 5F cooler tomorrow.

Probably only 200 miles straight line from racoon city, but a world of difference. He’s only about 75 miles from the Pacific Ocean, but about 40F away in daytime high temperature.

My readings are on the weathermap, Northern part of The Netherlands

If I could afford it, I would love to move to the California coast!

Santa Barbara is one city of many that interests me.

Yes, the cost of living here is quite a lot higher for sure.

When his swamp gets a bit too hot, it cools it down?

Tips and tricks to make living in the heat/sun better:

1. Wear white clothes.
2. Wear a cap.
3. Bring your own water bottle.
4. Drink lots of water.
5. Wear sunscreen.
6. Get yourself a portable fan.

To make inside living better:

  1. Replace ALL INCANDESCENTS LIGHTS WITH LED LIGHTS.
  2. Shut off electronic appliances when not needed.
  3. Get yourself blackout blinds for places you don’t usually go to.
  4. Try to eat cold foods rather than hot foods.
  5. Lower your power consumption as much as possible.
  6. The BLF alternative: Get yourself a solar panel array to make the AC work during the day, and let it rest during the night.

Man, it’s hot.

It’s like Africa hot.

Tarzan couldn’t take this kind of hot.

And no, it’s not a dry heat. It’s like breathing-through-a-hot-wet-towel heat.

Highs here have been running in the mid 90’s, Lows in the mid 70’s. Humidity ranging from around 80% up to 99%.

But…. Highs for the next few days are gonna be in the low 80’s & Lows in low 70’s & high 60’s. … That suits me just fine!!

One trick I like to use when it does get hot, is to put a wet bandana around the back of my neck and draped over the top of my chest. Evaporation cooling is pretty helpful. If its super humid where you are, maybe this doesn’t work?

It’s 19*C here.
It’s gonna be 24*C tomorrow .

I’d move to Santa Cruz in a heartbeat… Central Valley is hot, but not as hot as SoCal desert.
