This light can easily pull 15A, there aren’t many high drain protected batteries. so it’s not really a reliability the thing but compatibility.
This light has built in protection so you don’t need a protected cell either.
The funny thing is, I was using the same battery all day yesterday with no issues, and after letting it run on high for around 15 minutes it started acting normal again. So maybe it was hot internally from just being charged or something.
Here is a comparison between the FT03 and the Convoy L6.
By the way, the FT03 runs a LONG time.
When I ran the above battery down, it was on high or Turbo for over two hours, the battery was still at 3.57 volts, so it had a long way to go.
The distance to the house is probably around 100 feet. You can see how the FT03 is so bright it washes out the wall! Yes, the Convoy looks a little better at that range, due to being less powerful.
This thing is silly bright.
And with the AWT battery it gets silly hot.

Looking at the proper picture, the FT03 does show a deeper
throw than the L6 ( was confused with the labeling ). I believe.

Looking at the “washed out” upstairs walls on the house.
The Astrolux beam will throw a fair bit further than the L6.
Quite an impressive light for under $35. I bought 2 of the SST-40’s in 5000K and 2 of the 50.2’s also. The 50.2’s are awesome. I actually just bought another one in 5700K.
I admit, the FT03 is a very nice budget light, with great specs, but if bought 5 Astroulux FT03’s i would have to come up with a VERY GOOD excuse to my wife

Yes, for almost every light there is a coupon, or otherwise a 9% discount for BLF members when using banggood ( was it 4BLF ?)

The top pic is the L6. You can tell by how the FT03 washes out the front/roof.
That is the view from the front of my house. The minaret is the mosque on the next street. They also own three houses on my block. It is what it is. But frankly, they are better neighbors than the turd next door to me that they bought out.
There was a sale that ended 7/19 I think. I bought two, still waiting on one.
Check out the bottom pic. $25.99 Chaselight from Amazon. The throw rivals the L6 and the FT03. It takes 2 X 26650 to do it, but they come with the light. It has a nice white color output.
Wonder how that compares with, say, a P30 and/or GTmini…

Now my only problem is I can’t decide whether to buy the 50.2 or the SW40 which is also available in CW version for the same price. If it was NW it would be a no brainer. Anybody have a suggestion?

I bought both in the flash sales, and so far the sst40 has shown up, and it’s damn impressive.
plenty of useable spill (for me) and it’s a pretty nice thrower, nice sized hotspot in the longer distances. I’ll need to take it out soon and actually test it for the main reason i bought it - rabbit/fox hunting on my parents property, rather than terrorizing my neighbors haha
Not sure if i even needed the 50.2 but we’ll see when it gets here (The longer turbo times will be better for me than the extra output, but i’ll hold off until i actually get to use both)
