So I’m thinking about ordering one more final Convoy S2. Currently have one in Sand XPL-HI with 8x7135 as well as one in Grey SST20 with 8x7135. Love the ano on the sand light and love the light on the SST20. Thinking about doing a lower output “all purpose” S2 in a brighter ano like red or orange (easier to find). I plan to go with the SST20 again along with OP reflect. With the Biscotti setup, I’m am trying to decide how many chips to go with. Of course, brighter is better on max but I have found that the moonlight (0.1 * 2800ma = 280ma) is just way brighter than I need on low.
How badly will I kill max output of the SST20 running 4x 7135 (0.1 * 1400ma)? Will going from 280ma to 140ma make a significant difference in moonlight? I’d like something that would not kill night adapted vision, wont wake tent mates and would maximize utility if I ran off 1xCR123 in an emergency (already tested the 8x7135 which WILL function off a single primary though I don’t know for how long).
1xCR123 and 1x18650 would work fine. 2xCR123 I would say is in-advisable. It may work for a bit, but I believe putting 6v through a single 7135 makes them fail quickly, which is what you’d be doing in moonlight or other low modes. Just my opinion.
