KDLITKER C8.2 firmware

Im looking at getting the KDLITKER C8.2 http://kaidomain.com/KDLITKER-C8_2-Cree-XHP50_2-2600-Lumens-5-Mode-LED-Flashlight-Black
Ill be using it for airsoft with a c8 pressure switch, however, I cant see any information on how the firmware/modes work, with my current flashlight if I “manually strobe” it too fast it goes into program mode, all I need is off/100% , will the same issue happen with this one? or is it possible to put it into a off/100% memory state.

Modes:

Very Lo(5) > Lo (35) > Med(65) > Hi(100)

Hidden Strobe: Double click

Yes I can read the ad
My question was around how do you activate those modes, leading to my point about accidentally going into programming mode by turning it off and on too much.
Also if it’s possible to reprogram it into just off/100%

Pretty sure it uses a H1-A driver and a reverse clicky tail switch. Full click on/off, half press (no click) while on to chnage modes. Unfortunately, you can’t really program this driver, the only other mode you’ll go into is the SOS mode.

Ahhh right, so with a the pressure switch I have, which im pretty sure cant do a half press, I probably wont accidentally drop out of 100% mode, right?
For reference this is the pressure switch I have: Page Not Found - Aliexpress.com 2 buttons, 1 full on/off, 1 momentary

Momentary (off) while it’s on should be the same as a half press. Not sure if that’s how that works. Also keep in mind a quick off-on is the same as a momentary half press.

The H1-A starts off on L, and goes to M, then H, then LL after the driver has been off for a while. Has anyone modded a H1-A boost driver?

To answer another way, with this particular version of the C8, there is no programming mode to worry about, but when you manually strobe, you will cycle through the 4 modes (LL, L, M, H), and if you cycle fast enough you’ll go into a hidden SOS mode.

There’s no way to otherwise change this behavior for this particular version of the C8.

Right, bugger, that might be a deal breaker for me then unfortunately. Thanks for all the info though

What are the reasons why you picked this particular light? If you describe what you need it for maybe we can recommend a different light or a combination that would work better.

Ah yes, I currently have a C8+ - C8 with XPL HI emitter and DTP board and Samsung ncr18650ga
I use this as a rifle light for airsoft in a semi well lit indoors arena with that pressure switch above.
I was looking to upgrade what I currently have to put out more light (throw or flood) by doing an upgrade to a XHP 50.2 but instead came across the C8.2 instead
I’m very much a new when it comes to modding flashlights so thought buying one that works out of the box would result in a better final product than if I tried modding it myself
Compared to other flashlights that run the 50.2 out of the box, I prefer the C8 form factor since most others i’ve seen are much bigger, the C8 itself is definitely on the large side for a weapon light.

You have a few options if you’re willing to do some soldering. Here’s what comes to mind

1. Mod your current C8+ with just a driver swap to make it brighter - Pretty sure you could choose the custom firmware option at MTN with the 17mm FET driver they have and ask for single mode, 100% all the time. I’ll run that XPL-HI a lot harder than it runs now, especially if you got an even higher current battery.

2. Get the above driver + a 3V XHP50.2 - You’ll want to pair this LED with the same driver as option #1. The only bad thing is it’ll be 6000K, not sure if you care about that. http://kaidomain.com/3V-Cree-XHP50_2-K2-2A-White-6000K-LED-Emitter?search=3V%20CREE%20XHP50.2

I’ll warn you though, with this amount of current, this will get hot VERY fast. Also FYI, if size is more important than how long you can stay at 100%, you can shove a XHP50.2 in a S2+

Oh, shoving it into a S2+ sounds interesting, but otherwise yeah I think ill go with the the driver + 3V 50.2
Just to double check, this would be the right driver right? FET Driver - 17mm
Along with the XHP50.2 + 16mm MCPCB

Is that all I’d need handle it?

I found this post here: Convoy C8 Mod - The WOW Factor which looks like a good guide to doing this mod aswell

Yup that’s the right driver, select custom and see if they can do a 100% only option. Choose a turbo timer option as well.

C8 uses a 20mm MCPCB so pick that one instead

Ah awesome, easy as, thanks for all the help, you’re awesome.
Concerning heat, I don’t think it’ll be too much of a problem, I don’t leave it on for more than a minute or two at longest, more often it’s just 10s of seconds
