Fenix E05 2014 - Nichia LED swaps

OMD….VERY tight. Still struggling…… :frowning:

mission accomplished! 9 more to go….

Woo Hoo! Remember mine was stainless.

The trick is to heat them evenly to 90C for minimal 2 minutes. Then do it fast and steady. I used circlip pliers, my tweezer bent into funny shape.
Bought 10 pcs of these E05s as colour reference to the clients. I prepare 9 pcs for 2700K - 6500K high CRI EDC tint sampler, and the other for gift. I like the SS for keychain lights, more robust. Will order it later.
BTW, the low mode could be lower by simply replace the resistor, no? It’s way too bright.

Be carefull, I ruined the driver of mi SS E05 when i tried to unscrew it with a sharp scissors. Good luck !

Very nice!

OMG, love that 3000K!

Wait until I bring the 2700K later

 :+1:

Bring ’em on!

If you have a BLF 348 or an Astrolux A01, please throw them into the lineup too! TFS.

I don’t really keep up with those flashaholic - must - have items anymore. I was collecting flashlights since the PETZL acetylene torch era (Now it’s scary to think about how I dug into caves with it). Then I sold all of them. These days I always try to sell before consider to buy a new one. All the flashlights I have right now are those leftover from previous sales. Unfortunately the Wizard, Prime, and Predator aren’t easily modified. These E05s are cheap, tiny, robust, and has regulated flat output, great for my marketing job.

Being active in BLF recently made me grow that urge back, hhhhhh…… :weary:

For those whom spoiled by the rosy 219B tint, 219C seems like a failure in tint evolution. Well to my eyes, it's the other way around.

If you see at the sequence above, 219B is the misfit of all those following black body locus. There will be no true "natural" white in all 219B variants line up. Indeed it's pleasant but too "artificial" from those naturist point of view.

Great! I really like how bokeh effect helps to identify the tint color dominant.
Thanks for sharing!

cool set of lights :+1:

Great tint comparison indeed, thank you!

Rosy is not artificial in my opinion, but a rare natural occurance.
When we have a red dawn or red sunset then we get to experience the rosy tint of life where everything illuminated looks vibrant.

Never experienced any sunset or dawn like that, at least in my part of the world. Every time it always come in deep orange or yellow, never been pinkish. It’s pleasant and warm but unnatural (again, based on what I’ve seen). Very rare indeed

or it’s just my eyes…… :frowning:

Your eyes are fine, as your beamshots are just right!
I haven’t seen a red sunset in many years, definitely rare.
But when I did I distinctly remember the surroundings looking vibrant, beautiful.

Yeah but tint is subjective, most will like the Macadams 3 Step.
I’m more of a ‘bottom half’ 7 Step guy myself.

I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I’m excited to report my successful 219B swap on a three-mode E05 thanks to this tip!

I am currently away from my work bench and have only limited tools. After heating the head with a small heat gun, I used two sharp finishing nails held in a pair of Vise-Grip pliers to remove the driver. Fenix used plenty of blue threadlocker on this particular E05. :stuck_out_tongue:

The rest of the swap went smoothly, and the light works great with an sw30 219B.
