I’ve flashed my Q8’s and D4S using the procedure (minus the pins).
Your digest of downloads is a great help.
I had to uninstall my older copy of AVRDUDE (5.10) to get the updated one (6.0.1) to run with the “AVRDUDE” command.
Lemonade from lemons…I hope this “forced” programming key kit leads to at least a “mini-standard” for flashing chips. At least Emisar should design some of their future lights compatible with this new flash key. After the downloads/instructions…it really is super easy. Before the programming key, it was more of a fiddly-finger mess than technically complicated.
Thanks, I would ask for feedback, but meaningful feedback would require possession of the flash kit, which could be a couple of weeks from now, before they are shipped and received.
heat shrink: Keep in mind, I don't actually have one of Hank's kits (I had built my own, with a different key-pcb from OHS PARK). The kits will work out-of-the box. Those pins are pretty small. Good luck with that.
I also would like to neaten it up. The draft was written in Microsoft Word. Problem is, a lot of the formatting in Word gets lost when you cut and paste to the forum post window. I think I spent a good 30 min trying to fix the formatting in my post here.
I will make the video version and also for the Android phone app. The phone section done.
Terry if you don’t mind I will link your first post to my video when I upload it.
Here is the video of Emisar D4V2 reflashing with OTG capable Android phone. Terry please add a ling to the video or this post in the OP. BTW I found much easier to do flashing on phone app then on PC
I've added your instructions to the first "reserved" reply to my original post. This is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for - collaboration. I've also added a note at the beginning of my original post:
Note, as these alternate instructions from other BLF members become available, I will add them to the reserved replies below this post.
I guess there's no iPhone equivalent?
Edit: ZozzV6, you might want to add a link to the Nichia version of ToyKeeper's hex file in the comments under your YouTube video.
Thank you,Hank. I just ordered mine. Many phones come with an OTG adapter, but it’s nice that you are offering these for those who misplaced theirs, or never had one.
Terry,
A good set of clear instructions. Most anyone should be able to follow.
Here’s a thought, Make a .BAT file that has the commands, along with the pauses for outputs to check for communication etc.
One for the Nichia and one for the rest.
Then it will be a no brainer for the PEBCAK challenged. The hardest part would be getting the driver installed.
BTY, heck of a soldering job on your homemade pin card. I would never got those darned pins on that card in line to work.
All the Best,
Jeff
