Hi Azhu, just curious here when did you get this Oveready BOSS? Or when was the approximation date it’s made
Thanks,
Clemence

azhu: SKV89:Wow I wish Lumintop would be willing to sell some emitters to us individually like Convoy does.
Yeah, it’s really hard to find a good bin of the 219c. Besides these on my fw3a, the only other light I have really nice 219c are from my Oveready BOSS.

It was the very first run of the Raw Ti finish. Ordered back in Jan 2018.
Ah, I see. Thanks
Ah, I see. Thanks
Did you sell these? I think I recall Dan mentioning that he got them from you?
If so and you still have some, I’d be interested in a few

Yes he did.
Only few left, all the codes are the same but I have no spectrometer to validate if they’re the same tint.

sw40 on the Lumintop Tool25
Are those the sm4070e?
Are those the sm4070e?
No, this is the Nichia NVSL219BT-V1 sw40 D220 L2 R9080

Sorry, meant to address Clemence on the topic of 219c. The ‘e’ is a special bin similar to ‘k’. Be nice if they were offered for sale by whomever

Ah, I believe those are the sm403.
afaik
sm403 is N219c 4000k 3 step MacAdams elipse (relatively close to the BBL and usually above the BBL)
sm407e is a very pink 219c, guaranteed to be below the BBL
(I hope someone posts the chart, I cant find it atm)
sw45 is an N219b 4500k, that is not usually as pink as the sw45k
here is an excellent post with more pictures
sw45k is an 219b 4500k, and is supposed to always be significantly below the BBL
the sw45k and sm407e are similar in that they are both below the BBL, and have magenta (pink), tint
btw, A lot of people mis use the word Tint when they mean Color Temperature
they will say, I like Neutral Tint, I dont like Cool White
this is wrong language!
They mean, I like Neutral White CCT, I dont like Cool White
Neutral Tint is not the same as Neutral Color Temperature
Neutral Tint is tint that is not green and not magenta, it means Tint that lands on the BBL
sm407e is a very pink 219c, guaranteed to be below the BBL
(I hope someone posts the chart, I cant find it atm)
See here from Clemence’s site:
That bin allows for fairly large negative duv values. I assume Nichia prefers to keep most of the small duv emitters in the sm403 bin for customers who require uniformity, so that should leave sm4070e with lots of rosy emitters.
I didn’t realize before, but Clemence apparently had (now out of stock) those in D240 output and L2 voltage, which are also good bins for each of those specs.
Andy, group buy for these too?
Very helpful!
Andy was correct when he said 403 (is the yellow wedge actually 4030e?),
along w 4050e and 4070e, they are all below bbl
Andy, group buy for these too?
+1
I received my emitters today, I changed the stock xpl of a nitecore tup to a sw45k. I definitely like it, I don’t see any red but slight hint of pink and color rendition is great. Output has been reduced to about half , didn’t realize that was going to happen, The nitecore tup is rated at 1,000 lumens stock and with the sw45k it’s around 500 or so.

Glad you like it! The high r9 is supposed to help with red rendition. You don’t see red in the tint. It should be a little rosy like you said. With the Nichia 219b, you give up lumens for high CRI. Nowadays, I much prefer a beautiful color rendition over a lumen monster. I guess it varies with everyone but for 99.9% of my uses, I usually only need up to 500 lumens. Share some beam shots of the TUP with the new emitter. I’m curious to see the output with that particular reflector.

Let me see if this is possible
For some reason during the past year everyone gives 219C such a bad rap. Here’s one of my first ever builds:
Purchased from MTN Jan 2018:
219C D240 4000K 90+ CRI
Turbo to Low on a FET+1 10507 uncoated lens
CCT = 4057K (Duv –0.0007)
CCT = 4069K (Duv 0.0011)
CCT = 4006K (Duv –0.0004)
CCT = 3988K (Duv –0.0011)
CCT = 3995K (Duv –0.0011)
I can’t explain the weird Duv spike in the middle. Maybe driver related?

That’s pretty solid! I’ve had mixed feelings on most of the 219c I’ve received so maybe it’s just a wide variation in production bins?
