Newbie q: S2 with 7135*5 only needs cell with max current of 1.75A or higher right?

Hi all,

I bought this (with m4dm4x discount - thanks!) : https://m.banggood.com/Convoy-S2-Grey-71355-Driver-365nm-Purple-UV-Flashlight-Fluorescence-Sterilization-Banknote-Detection-Pen-p-1414041.html?rmmds=myorders

I need to buy a cell for it and am aware I need to match the maximum current appropriately.

Am I correct that the flashlight will draw maximum 1750mA due to 5*1735, so the cell only needs max current of 1.75A (or higher)?

Thanks!

Yes, flashlight’s max current draw will be 1.75A. Theoretically it could be up to 1.9A as there are 0.38A rated 7135s but not likely. Either way, amp draw is low, any quality brand cell can do that. Aim for higher total capacity for longer run times.

Thank you!

Are unprotected cells fine for this flashlight? I’ll be buying a Nitecore D4 charger.

That Convoy driver features LVP (low voltage protection), you dont need a protected battery.

Sorry, i have just seen yours is the one mode version, so no LVP

If the driver doesn’t have LVP (low voltage protection), a protected cell could be a good idea as a safeguard against over discharging the cell. Other than that, as long as the cell fits it doesn’t really matter if it’s protected or not. I don’t remember if the S2 fits protected cells, I’d guess so but it’s only a guess.

It will take protected cells. I use unprotected cells in mine.
