Noctigon Meteor M43 official sales and discussion thread

That sounds about right. I also have the S4 3D Meteor. I don’t have four VTC5A cells though, so I haven’t been able to get mine up that high. I checked just now with four 30Q cells at 4.07V, and got 5775 lm. Or with four LG cells at 3.99V, it got 4850 lm.

I finally have a decent measuring device calibrated with maukka lights, and I checked the calibration with three reference lights right before the test, so these numbers are probably reasonably accurate. I’m still charging up the 30Q cells for another test though, to see how they perform when totally full. I think I may be able to get it over 6000 lm.

Out of curiosity, I took one of those LG cells and put it into my D18. The D18 is at a bit of a disadvantage since it has less-efficient high-CRI emitters, and it was running with only one cell, and that cell was at a slightly lower voltage after the previous test — 3.94V. But it measured 6040 lm on one cell, compared to the Meteor’s 4950 lm with all four cells.

Edit: After charging the 4x30Q cells, I tested again… but output actually went down, not up. With full cells, it measured 5423 lm. Earlier, it got 5775 lm with the same cells at a lower voltage.

“Hand Cooled” I love it! Probably an old joke but I hadn’t seen that before :sunglasses:

That just means I was holding the light and moving it around during the test to emulate a more IRL usage.
Sometimes people will use a fan to cool the light in a stationary position or leave it standing with no contact during tests.

Probably better to ask here. Can the m43 be reflashed to andruil or other firmware? I’d like to take the complexity out of the m43 and go for a more simplified UI.

Yes, but you’d need to swap out the driver.

What driver is compatible for this?

You’d need to remove all components of the driver, and then place in a new driver soldered to the positive and negative leads.

Mind the LEDs are in series. Four sets of three.

You would need to do something like this for the driver.
Use a 12v driver or alter the MCPCB or install something different

Both of my m43 nichia 219c has 6600 lumens written on the box. I tested both in a calibrated lumen tube and I’m reading half that, only 3300 lumens. Can anyone help clarify? Testing against 30Q and vtca5 read same output

Here are measurements I took with three different emitter versions with the TA lumen tube. Didn’t measure the 219C though but 3300 lumens seems reasonable for the 219C in comparison with the other emitters.

M43 is current driven, not FET. Therefore I think with only 3300 lumens the M43 is severely under performing.

Or something like this…

It’s, uh, getting a little ugly… been rebuilt more than a few times…

Question for Noctigon M43 owners.

I recently purchased a White M43 and noticed that when I unscrew the head from the body, there is no mechanical lockout until the head is practically ready to fall off? Is this normal? My Dark Grey M43 appears to be anodized on the inside, and a 1/4 to 1/2 turn of the head and the lockout takes place.

As for the two lights, they are identical in length, dimensions etc. I do notice the springs in the White one are matt, and the ones in the Dark Grey are shinny.
I also notice the inside battery tube of the White M43 has a more raw look to it, as if it wasn’t anodized.

Your insights are greatly appreciated.

The Meteor has a software lockout. Click the button 6 times to lock/unlock.

Hi Pavlo. Yes, somehow the white M43 body is a bit electrically conductive, so mechanical lockout does not work. The springs look like, well like springs to me; not really shiny but also not really matte. The inside of the battery tube looks more like spray canned silver, instead of raw aluminium or stone white.

Sounds like its normal for the White body then.
I use the electronic lockout, but for storage purposes, I prefer mechanical lockout.

Thanks for your replies.

It will be more appropriate here.
I ask you to think about the production of a battery accessory for NOCTIGON 4*18650 METEOR M43 and EMISAR D18. To use flat top batteries.

Are Noctigon Meteor no longer for sale?
Both mtn electronics, and intl-outdoors dot com do not show them.

M43 was discontinued about 1 year ago.

I am looking to buy an stock, fully functional M43. No preference in color or LED.
