LuminTop EDC05 glass lens replacement

Hi All,

My EDC05 that I’ve had under a month has had the lens smash already. Dropped from a height of under 1m and onto wood - surely not toughened glass then? Can anyone recommend the right size lens replacement?

Thanks

Hi again All,

I managed to get a new head from Lumintop, which is great.

Now, to fix the old one. Has anyone modified their EDC05 yet? I managed to get rid of the smashed lens and O ring but the mental retaining ring remains. I thought I could unscrew it like that of the Manker U11 but put on rubber gloves and using the friction to unscrew it, but it won’t budge. Wondering if anyone else has had any success?

Thanks

How did you managed to get it, Lumintop customer service? I have only one lumintop for now, but i have a few coming in, including one EDC05, and is always good to know how to find replacement parts!

Is it glued? Damn i hoped it was screwed! Didn’t find nothing yet online about modifying a EDC05 :frowning:

I actually contacted Lumintop directly about acquiring a new lens, and Leo responded to say I’d have difficulty doing this myself and offered to send a replacement head for $9 (£6 something for me) which I didn’t think was too bad. 2 weeks later I get a brand new head in the post!

I don’t know at this stage but I’m going to guess it is. I, too, have not seen any mod threads yet. Maybe it is too difficult to?

Difficult but not impossible i hope. Anyway my EDC05 still is in china heading to here… i have to wait to see.

The bezel doesn’t seem to be glued! Have you tried thick gloves instead of rubber ones? You may need to apply much pressure to make it unscrew! If you got rid of the cracked lens, maybe you can stick something under the bezel from the inside to pull it!

It really doesn’t seem to be glued nor press fit!
But, in any case, you can use a lighter to “unglue” it, if that is the case!

Hi, ring is screwed with special tool under hydraulic press. :frowning:

Wow, were you able to take it off?! I have tried everything without damaging the light, and it won’t budge. Do you have pictures of it taken off?

Is this the case? If so then there is no way for me to fix this

A quick update on the replacement I got from Lumintop which I received on 12/03 - right out the box it was flashing and turning off after a very light tap. I emailed Leo @ Lumintop to sort this, and after 12 emails of having to chase him over and over, presenting him with all the pictures and videos as evidence, to this day 4 months later Lumintop have done nothing to honour their warranty. The emails I’ve received from Leo have been one-liners, sometimes repeated questions. Very annoying.

Yes, that’s what they told me on their Facebook support. Therefore is probably no way to do a home repair. I have access to hydraulic press but without the special tool is impossible to unscrew that f*g ring. I cracked my glass too when trying to open the head, I wanted to do a led swap for something with higher cri, but I failed hard…. They offered me a new head for 7,5$, got it in the mail yesterday with very very nice 4500K neutral white, but inside head was moisture, so when I turned it on turbo mode, the inner side of the glass got a fog. I exposed the head to the sun rays and moisture luckily went away through the small holes in driver. Driver is of some newer revision, and, sadly, is bad. Long click needed for turning it off is now 1 second instead of great 0.5 seconds in old driver. And, lastly, there is no more the programming mode! Also, the under part where the head is touching the battery tube are some stamps. The new head is probably refubrished. Sorry guys for my bad English.
