LiitoKala lii-500S - New HIT or ...?

This charger displays info for 1 slot at a time. So without pressing a button you could never glance at the charge status of all 4 channels anyway.
Mind you, I’d rather had a choice for display on/off as well. Like I still wish I could turn off the backlight of my Maha MH-C9000. The damn thing lights up the whole room at night.
I’m not sure though if the 500S completely turns off the display or just the backlight. If it’s just the backlight it might be fixed by soldering the backlight to a terminal on the board that’s powered all the time.

Sure you can fix that, c'mon. With a piece of dark cardboard, a small glass cleaning cloth or something similar.

I find touching a button to turn on the display far more elegant than having to cover the display with cardboard or a cloth to “turn it off”. :sunglasses:

You like modding, don't you? I am sure that is an easy mod. If you take some good photographs of the C-9000's LCD control mainboard it is very very likely some backlight controlling MOSFET will be found. Cutting down its gate line and placing a small SPST switch or self-locking pushbutton in between gets the job done or should be so.

You’re right Barkuti.
But my priority will be finding how the 500S is shutting down the display. I”m hoping it just turns off the backlight. Should be an easy fix.

Thank you Barkuti. It’s a good reminder to read the full thread before buying 2 of them with the first code one reads:-) Your link is still cheaper.

No this is still the best deal:

That’s why I consider my Opus BT-3100 so far the best-designed of them all. Long press (5 sec) the ‘Display’ button if you want the backlight to be ON all the time, otherwise, it stays off YET the LCD screen shows ALL channels doing their thing all the time. Beautiful UI, I should say.

Should be. The Lii-500's display backlight also works briefly, but as it is a classic passive LCD it has good visibility without backlight. On the other hand the new Lii-500S display looks nice, features a bigger screen with some senseless fancy graphics and stingy information for its size. If you are right the Lii-500S display will have an easy fix like this one meant for the Lii-500 (check Q35 with a gate voltage injecting resistor, I made it with 470Ω; the smaller the closer the brightness is to standard):

This is

Long press (2 sec) the 1-4 button to keep the backlight on or off.

Thanks for sharing. Where did you get that from?
It’s not mentioned in the online manual.

lucky guess…

Translation: out of desperate fiddling with the device and just before hitting it with a hammer. O:)

Great!
So does the setting stay even after you power it off or does it revert to the display off after 15 sec. again? (Can’t try it myself because I haven’t received it yet).

No,500s will not save setting.

Ah well, at least we have a choice now.

Is it possible to disable the beeping on the Lii-500s?
It’s driving me nuts

Of course! :-D Open your Lii-500S, locate the buzzer inside, and either smash it, desolder some of its leads or just remove it. Problem solved. (^̮^)

Haha, i seriously need to do that. Was hoping there was a settings for that.
