*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Awesome, thanks for the hard work!

Awesome news! Thank you for your hard work and organizing this!

Rock your body ya!

Awesome news DBSAR! Seems like we are finally close to getting the production started.
Here we go guys!

It is still unclear to me if the warm emitter is 2700K or 3000K? It sounds not much difference but it certainly is a clear difference in practice, both for how warm it feels (important for me personally) and for what intermediate tints are achieved.

And DEN, did you do drop tests? (or was that the “banging around”? ) In order to gain the classification of “best lantern ever” , surviving mild (toppling over a few times on a hard surface) and even medium drops (a few 1 meter drops on wood) seems very relevant to me.

I’ve been wondering, since neoprene-like covers have been made for other flashlights is it possible to include something similar for the lantern at a later date? Something that wraps around the base, I’m assuming the o-ring bumper on the head should suffice for accidental toppling.

Can it be used as a lightning “system”? For example connect multiple lights to usb charger (power supply) and turn on when there is power over usb and turn off when power is gone? (One switch controlling several lamps.

Maybe even the exact opposite would be useful as an emergency light - when power over usb is lost, turn on.

If it’s not possible ATM, is it possible with firmware update? Can MCU detect whether usb has power?

I don’t know the exact layout of the driver board. But I think there are 2 different and independend circuits. One circuit for the LEDs and one circuit for charging the batteries. Both circuits are connected to the battery of cause.
And I think both circuits can use the switch LEDs for status purpose.

For this behavior you have to change the Side switch. Exchange the switch to a plug and build a remote switch, which you can exchange to a switch-system (one switch and many plugs).

New to the forum - Just returned from a camping trip and this looks perfect!
Count me in for 1

A few random thoughts … …

Packaging — As far as I’m concerned wrap and put into a USPS Flat Rate box and ship. I have to remove and re-package for Christmas packages. Now — If this Lantern will be offered on the Retail Market after the Group Buy — I then could see professional packaging — After the Group Buy.

I’m sure some have thought about this question — So I’ll ask … … If one orders on the Group Buy a large quantity — Say 10 or more … … Any further discount ??

As the World is introduced to this Lantern thru exposure from the Family and Friends of the Group Buy participants — Will this Lantern be made available For Sale on the Retail market ??

If upon receipt of the Lantern — We want to order more … … Can we do this at the Group Buy price — And how long will the Group Buy price be offered once the Lantern’s ship ??

If the Lantern passes Den’s series of tests — Release it. Let it get into the hands of the Group Buy individual’s hands as this will expose it to the World. As time goes by — Suggestions will be made as to how to modify and/or improve it — Let this happen to version 2.0 and so on.

I’m down for 5 at this time (1594,1595,1726,1727,1728) — — — Add 2 more for a total of 7 … Unless a discount is offered for 10 or more — — If this is granted ………… I’ll take a total of 10.

It may only require custom firmware. I have an Anduril light that that comes on using a forward switch just fine (once I compiled it with momentary support). So chances are, with some changes, you could not put batteries in it and turn it on and off with USB only. Have to wait and see.

No more changes, SHIP IT!

Thanks Den, and all involved, for all your hard work

As far as we know Barry mentioned that 3000K emitters were found & used in the test units, If 2700K is possible and if they don’t cost anymore then i can try to confirm on that.

As for banging around, i did that many times, (including roll the first test sample down my stairs.

To answer your questions as close as i can:
Packaging will depend on what Sofirn plans, a nice box, with foam internal padding & included a user manual like many other of our custom lights come in.

The Group buy discount and if there is any further discount will be up to Sofirn and their sellers.

The LT1 will be offered for retail sale after the Group buy.

As for a second group buy, it will be up to Sofirn & their sellers but we can discuss the possibility.

So far the tests are good, my final tests will be done today and the video done tonight to go on my Youtube channel for everyone to see what the LT1 is & can do. :+1:

Den, please don’t let 2700k emitters delay this any longer if it would. Maybe make them a special order for those who care. 1000+ of us would like this lantern just the way it is, which sounds like it includes you. We will never please everyone, but can please the vast majority. We are currently in the 4th camping season since this was announced.

That i will make sure of, if they already have the 3000K we will go with those.

Hmmm. Sounds awesome. I’m number 8. Can I change my 1 lantern to 2?

Im already on the list for 2, Can you put me down for a 3rd one.

thanks..

Created an account just to say put me down for 1! Thanks for all your hard work.
