Flashlight Boxes

Digging through some stuff last night, I found a bag with most or all of my flashlight boxes. BLF lights mostly, special editions, etc. I put my most recent boxes from the FW3A in with the stash. I was thinking of getting rid of it all, but thought I would ask, does anyone else save their empty boxes? Is there any reason to? Just wondering.

If you mean the original packaging, yes, I keep them all. They are useful for selling flashlights, the original box makes a better impression. Other than that some boxes are actually nice to keep spares inside (orings, parts, clip,…)

Me too, mainly for the same reasons as Binford. I keep boxes for almost all my electronics - makes it easier to find the accessories I use once in a blue moon. Also, maybe I have slight hoarder tendencies…

I keep them, no other good reason than to keep all the spare parts easily found. Guess I could just label them and put them all in one bag.
I don’t resell any of my lights so no need for that.
Wife thinks I should throw them away!

I am in the same category, although I did a small purge of duplicate boxes and the blister card type packages. I will tell you they are taking up significant space.
I have a Fenix BC30 box that has precision cut foam really remarkable package I can’t seem to discard that one.
I label the spare o-rings, and sometimes ditch the box .
I keep the boxes stashed where my wife hasn’t found them - yet.

I cut the relevant info off the box and use it as a label inside the little baggy containing the spare o-ring and parts. Throw the rest of the box in the recycle bin.

I do pretty much the same thing. I use to store boxes. They fall over every time you look at them and take up way too much space. Off to the burn pit they go.

I like that idea, because yes, they are taking up too much space. I know it would be better to have them for selling or shipping the lights, but I doubt I will be doing that anytime soon. I think I need to throw some away. Thanks for all your thoughts.

If I like a light, I’ll typically get a “spare” for Just In Case. Sometimes more than one. I leave them in the original boxes after just testing to see they’re not DOA. Lotta lights are or become Box Queens.

Crappy Generic Flimsy White Cardboard Boxes immediately go into the trash, as they typically arrive in that condition anyway. Presentation boxes like some Convoys and Zanflares stay. Boxes which keep everything cozy (Thorfire, Sofirn, etc.) also stay.

If the flashlight boxes are good quality, I tend to keep them. Even if you don’t store the flashlight in it, it can be used for other things. Astrolux makes great thick cardboard boxes that can easily be repurposed by removing the foam insert. If the cardboard is thin, I usually try to fold it up and tuck away… just in case for warranty purposes or for reselling. But… I usually discard the clear plastic mold for holding the flashlight in place. That’s the “space killer”… and padding with paper or other wadding is usually suitable enough.

Some boxes have magnetic latching lids. Cut those magnets out and use them.

You’re not alone, i have a duffel bad full of the best flashlight boxes & cases i kept.

I fold my boxes to store them and stuff them in another box. I have to throw away most of the padding it comes with though or try and reuse them how you would use a pelican case’s foam e.g. the foam on an FT03 stores 5 of my lights.

I bought a new lawn mower last year, and still have the box for that!

I keep flashlight and knife boxes just in case I ever get around to selling stuff I don't need.

I have every box for every light with all accessories. I keep 6 favourite lights [at this time] out and store the others back in the box just like when i got them.

I even like to carefully open the box so i dont tear them as this bugs me.

Snap!

I’ve got all my boxes for lights, chargers and batteries. I have an entire walk in closet filed with flashlight boxes, gun boxes and HiFi boxes. I even have boxes up in my attic area!

‘I might just have to send something back, I keep telling myself.’

Guilty. I keep all the boxes and everything that comes with them when new.

I wish I could have a house with any spare room. Not in California. My fault though.
