Small head 18650 zoomy

I’m looking for a compact zoomy with twist for the zooming function and removable pill.
I’ve used the Brinyte B168 which is perfect except for the bulky head compared to the lens size.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer a twisty zoom?

Is the Tank007 TK-737 still available? It looks fairly decent: Review: Tank007 TK-737 rotating zoom 5-mode
It’s a twisty zoom with a head that looks smaller than the B168. Don’t know about the removable pill or it’s lights availability though.

So it cant zoom by itself when firearm mounted.

The Tank is for sale at FT. Rather expensive. Does anyone know whether its a twist zoom?
SupFire F3-L2 Boaz mentioned in a PM. Is this a push pull or twisty zoomy. Cant find any reviews that mention it.
Thanks all.

You could try Uf T20 , but the head is not much smaller: 45mm VS 54mm in B158

The Tank007 TK-737 is a twist zoom.

(I have one.)

Thanks rc.

I have the UF T20. Just bigger than I want.

What size head do you want? Like 20mm zoomie?

Something similar to the Brinyte B168 lens size but a more compact head diameter wise.
blitzwing has some good measurements here.

there is a cheap 3 x aaa , 18650 on ebay

i wait for mine.

That is a push-pull zoomie. But it brings up an interesting subject. Most flashlights that are compatible with both 3xAAA and 1x18650 can by default also fit 21700 cells. This being the case, there are LOTS of 21700 compatible lights on the market that don’t claim to be. (Probably, they just didn’t think about it) Since 21700 is barely bigger than 18650 to our hands, but holds capacity like 26650, this is a big deal.

Howbow a ’502 or similar drop-in?

At least in theory you can get one of these:

https://www.illumn.com/ahorton-27-2mm-aspheric-glass-lens.html

with the spacer and tweak it to as much/little as you want it focused (how far you screw down the spacer onto the pill, replacing the reflector of course).

I say “in theory” because it’s not so great from personal experience, as both lenses I got have a flattening or “bellybutton” at the top which distorts the beam. With a good lens, though…

And a ’502 (or similar) should fit fine on Picadilly rails.

I had that thought Lightbringer but really need the twist zoom function. The torch itself will end up with a UV led in it.

UV in a weaponlight?

I’ve really gotta hear about your use case!

UV? Better be UV-rated material, then, like quartz.

Plastics can turn yellow or brown, as well as block UV.

Only twist-zoomie I know of it the Cometa.

Some suggestions, assuming that you will mod them! (BTW, I once tried a Nichia UV 365nm in a Odepro KL52 = Brinyte B158 and…it didn’t get much result :zipper_mouth_face: Not sure if it was my problem modding or if the UV didn’t pass well through the lens, but it didn’t go as good as I wanted…)

Just try it. Take a WK30, UV-S2+, etc., and try shining the light (in darkness) through an aspheric lens, TIR, whatever you’re planning to use.

If plain paper that’d otherwise light up like it’s on fire, well, doesn’t, then the UV light is being blocked.

Did I say UV? Blame djozz. I should have said IR. Sorry guys.
