Review: Lumintop EDC05C (sample)

I certainly will - the price reduction in the sale isn’t huge, so I wouldn’t bother pulling the trigger if you’re not decided as you won’t save too much!

Anyone have any ideas on how to get to the LED/MCPCB on this thing? Looks like a press fit front bezel.

My bad, realised I didn’t update this thread!

I took this away camping with me for the weekend and was suitably impressed. I really like the size, especially in summer when I’m wearing shorts and want something tiny that hides away in a pocket.

I loved the strength of the magnet on the tailcap, it was perfect for putting under a table (attached to the metal leg) and providing some ambient light.

I didn’t like the battery life (but that’s kind of a known entity, right?)

It’s got a nice usable amount of lumens on the front emitter and the side emitters are also perfect, I mostly used it in the lowest modes for close-up work around the campsite.

It’s going to be staying in my pocket quite a lot, that’s for sure

I just got mine but the runtime isnt impressive. They claim the Moonlight mode is 15days. But I just charge my batt(~4.15v) and test it for 10hrs or so and the voltage drop to 3.907v.

Obviously it depends on the cell you are using. I didnt' do any runtime tests though.

Even this review didn't test moon mode - takes too long, rare to find in a review: https://zeroair.org/2019/04/03/lumintop-edc05c-flashlight-review/

It just ocurred to me why the battery needs a “tool” to remove it - it’s probably because they intended to supply it with a cell inside and it helps them get around the postage issues. Having a “non removable battery” means they can ship it through the post more easily I think?

They are working on a model?” This one is discontinued.

says who ? was this light ever released ?

I’ve been carrying one for a couple months. I like it.

I think that it’s just out of stock at some sellers - not discontinued.

I wish I would get the full story, but of course, no one ever does. Yea, it was out/available for a while on the market, little pricey, but has some nice LED's and features in it. I suspect competing against similar form factor lights in the $3-$10 range was a tuff sell. The usual sourcing like at BG and Amazon is out of stock, unavailable.

It's still a sweet light for me.

There’s some on ebay.

~~Seems to be available here; https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32849494879.html~~

Edited: This is not the same light!

That link is for the EDC05, which is a different model.

The EDC05C is this link, which shows it’s sold-out:

side comment on the EDC05 (programming mode):

BTW, regarding the EDC05, I have an older batch EDC05, which has the programming mode (similar to Manker E11 and UTorch UT01, allows user-selected 3 brightness sub-levels for each of the 4 main brightness levels).

Someone showed me a new batch EDC05 and when I mentioned it has programming mode, but I tried to program but it does not appear to have programming mode. The new batch appears to be fixed at the 800 lumens max (formerly, the EDC05’s max brightness level can be set to “400”, “600” and “800” lumens. Now it is fixed at the highest brightness only). No programming mode, but other functions seems to be similar.

Oops, my bad, sorry! :frowning:

I found it here

used code: TOP2010 for 20% discount

Fancied one of these for some time but always thought they were a bit pricey, I finally ordered one from Banggood a while back with a coupon from somewhere on BLF , it went straight to back order ! I waited , and waited and waited for it to come back into stock.

Got a little worried when I saw the posts above saying it may be discontinued or changed and the listing disappeared from Banggood.

I messaged Banggood for any updates , First they offered a refund , I asked how long I would have to wait for it to back in stock , They could not tell me.

Now , like many on this forum ,I do not really need this flashlight so I said I would wait as long as it takes for them to get me one, Banggood were happy for that to happen.

Only a few weeks after that conversation with Banggod they emailed to say it was on its way to me, It arrived today , It’s changed very slightly ,and I like it ,The battery insert top is now slightly taller and is knurled so it can be removed by hand ,no tool is in the box.

Light is now about 92.5mm long.

Just checked the listing is back on Banggood with the new design.

I guess the saying “good things come to those who wait” may be true in this case.

PS used code BGF1111 seems to still work ,save a fair bit £9 / $11

Thanks for that. :+1:

I think that many will like that change to the cap - I certainly do. Oh, well, the original version that I have works well enough.

Looks like a decent multi-use light so I ordered one from Neals gadgets on Feb 5th, 20. Nothing was said on their site about them being off for vacation but on that same day, I received an email from them stating they would be off until Feb12th and that any orders would be shipped on Feb13th. Having heard nothing from them, I sent a email wondering what effect the fact that Lumintop now says the EDC05C had been discontinued and has been replaced with the E05C would have on my order on Feb 13th. No reply so I sent another on Feb 14th, again no reply, on Feb 16th I sent the 3rd email to Neals Gadgets again trying to find out what is going on with my order and again, no reply. Sent another email which I am sure will also go unanswered today 2-18-20.
Looks like my only option now will be to dispute the charge on my card when the statement arrives.

Not sure what is going on there but if anyone is considering placing an order with Neals Gadgets, you may want to look elsewhere because it appears they not only are not open, they also will not answer any emails you have concerning their products or any orders you may have placed.
