ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

Ok cool….im going to order it right now….thank you!

What’s a budget ceramic bearing knife with no flipper (so smooth it purposely make the user use another opening style than a pivot flipper) and nice patterned scale like Grimsmo Norseman.

How is that flipbenza from knockoff

Nobody knows. Buy one and tell us, my knife budget is gone for a while :frowning:

Anyone familiar with the Brother Brand of folders or fixed blade knives?

This one has my interest.

Thanks guys

Although most of their previous models were heavily influenced by Spyderco / Byrd models they released a couple of quite good original designs recently.
For example the Brother 1505 lock-back traditional folder with VG10 blade and micarta handle or the F005 / F006 bushcraft fixed blades with D2 / 440C blade.

…and not to forget the Brother 1502, a clone of the Kershaw Gentleman’s knife (which was also copied as the Navy K611)

I’d get myself that carbon fiber inlaid Brother knife if I had the funds atm

Thanks guys appreciate it.That 1505 is about to get ordered as well as the F005.

That Irish guys vid on the f005 is great!

Amazon has a price drop on the CRKT Squid. after the 10% off coupon, it’s only $16.24.

Nice little knife for the price. Think they are usually in the mid $20’s

Edit: 9/18. Was at Academy sports today. They had the black stonewashed squid on one of those clearance racks for just a tad over $14. Not sure if it’s nationwide or not. If you have one close it might be worth checking out. Saw some Kershaw, Gerber, and SOG blades on the same rack, same clearance prices. None of the other ones peaked my interest but they might peak yours.

I’m looking for a new EDC knife and came here for some recommendations. I’m currently using the Land 9104 and love it but want something that is quite a bit lighter. Should I just go with the Land 811 since it is a bit smaller/lighter or are there better options? I really love the Land 812 but don’t want to spend more than around $25.

Ganzo is currently leading the pack in value/$ but they don’t have anything that looks like the Land lineup. Still worth a look however as your $25 budget will get you all of their new models (though a lot of the chinese sites are out of stock for whatever reason besides Aliexpress. Power Cutlery is the cheapest place currently if you’re US based).

If you’re looking at Land 811, then I would look at Ganzo FH11/FH12 as well. It’s about the same weight and similar shape, D2 blade.

Sanrenmu 7010 is the same design but very small and cheap. Great for EDC. Or you can get the new small version of Ganzo FH11 Knife Firebird by Ganzo FH11S (Black, Green, Gray) online catalog ganzoknife.com, description of Knife Firebird by Ganzo FH11S (Black, Green, Gray), characteristics Knife Firebird by Ganzo FH11S (Black, Green, Gray) Real D2 steel with very good hardness

Who sells it? I can’t seem to be able to find it anywhere.

I just snagged one of these on Ebay, Got the one that has the ceramic ball on the clip, can’t wait to get it, I might try and dye the bone scales a shade of brown or maybe have some custom wood scales made, Anyone knows who can do nice wood or micarta/G10/Carbon Fiber scales?

Thanks!

@AlexGT Making inserts won’t be a problem, sending the knives around the world twice would ruin and reasonable pricing though

My current edc knife is an example of something that can only be done by loving the work itself:

Selfmade CF on a sub-$20 knife? Insane? Maybe, but worth it

Or to grind a clip out of a chink of titanium? Insane isn’t even the right word

No pics of the green anodized orange peel version yet, sorry

By the way, I like my TwoSun TS51, too

Nice work Adahn! Your site is full of awesome! :sunglasses: :+1:

I am currently considering a burl wood inlay like these

Honduran Rosewood Burl inlays

Ironwood inlays

African blackwood inlays, if I could dye the bone in this color I would be happy

Or maybe

Abalone inlays

Amazon has the green one. Not sure about the overseas sellers.

@AlexGT Thank you  Yes, I like to play with different stuff, esp. when I can make something pretty from stuff that’s just laying around

Atm I’m into leather stuff as you’ve seen but I also make an earring from a piece of .5mm Ti that wasn’t meant to be so thin when I ordered it :stuck_out_tongue:

3 of 4 leafs and 1 of 2 blossoms are nearly finished, I hope I can get good anodized colors.

Wish me luck, it’s for my wife’s birthday. Not really matching with the necklace I made some time ago but well…

Got this Gerber/Fiskars Paraframe Mini on Amazon. I like the small form factor and low weight (40g), but unforunately the frame lock is really difficult to disengage. I think this is going to be a deal breaker for me. Not sure if they’re all like that or mine is just a dud.

Can you guys recommend something else in this form factor / weight / price?
