Photon Micro Freedom size with newer brighter options?

I use a Photon Micro Freedom on my keychain for my motorcycle. Anything much bigger, heavier, wider, longer, or made of metal bounces around and mars the plastic. Plastic on plastic isn’t so bad.

Is there anything that is about the same size, weight, and made of plastic of the Photom Micro Freedom? I’ve had these lights for a lot of years. But they put out less then 10 lumens.

Surefire Sidekick maybe? I’ve never seen either in real life so not sure how they compare in size.

The Nitecore Tube, Fenix UC01, and Klarus Mi2 are all just a little bit larger, and a decent amount brighter, plus USB rechargeable.

The Rovyvon Aurora series are maybe a hair bigger than the Tube, but a slightly different shape, and much brighter. There are several versions, some with plastic bodies.

I’d like to include the Nitecore Tini in the list, but it has a metal body. I suppose you could wrap the corners in gaffers tape or similar…

I have carried both the TINI and the TUBE on my keychain with no problems.
The TUBE has a lockout and the TINI has a 2 second delay plus a 30 sec turnoff option but never had it turn on (that I know of).

Those sound like your best options.
BatteryJunction lists 132 keychain lights. They include an Innova, a couple of PrincetonTec, and a streamlight Logo that are all in the Photon class. The Fenix UC01, JetBeam E0, and Klarus Mi2 are 40-50 lumens. The SplashFlash is AAA, 25 lumens and has Strobe!

Also, if you find a light you like that’s metal, you can put heat-shrink tubing on the body to protect your bike.

Here are a couple of lights for size comparison. They are plastic bodies except the metallic Rovyvon on the far. right. I included it for reference because I don’t have the plastic body version but the sizes are very similar.

They are arranged in order of brightness with the micro being the lowest.

The Xtar X-craft Rechargeable Keychain Light (next to the Micro) is a slightly brighter than the Micro and is USB rechargeable!

The Nitecore Tube, next, is very popular and highly recommended.

Hope this helps.

I dunno, I have a Freedom laying around, I think it has the Nichia GS. Hard to beat that for output in a 5mm AFAIK. I’m actually watching for an ebay deal on one with the covert nose. Or maybe the Photon II Pro. Just an awesome size and utility. I carried a Photon II in green for years when I was young and dumb and doing all types of dumb stuff. Always came through for me, though the green was a downright silly color and a real PITA for some tasks.

I’m curious what my Gerber Infinity Ultra is using. It is much brighter (on fresh battery) than any single 5mm LED I’ve used.
