Open and handle your FW3C with latex or nitrile gloves on.
Apply quality paste car wax to Cu light while wearing the gloves.
Let dry as needed, remove wax and buff light while wearing the gloves, repeat process.
Light is now well protected against oxidation.
Does the wax melt if the light gets hot or is it totally removed after drying?
Guys, conformal coating is just more appropriate for this situation.
I actually applied the wax to a hot light, so it would seep into the pores of the copper.
I set my ceiling to 38c so I can hold onto it the whole time.
It was lit for maybe 7 minutes total, while I rubbed and rubbed the wax onto it.
I got 10 fingers of wax on my nitrile gloves and gave that light a happy ending.
I let the light dry overnight, then buffed it clean with a high pile microfiber.
Shines like the sun now, and no fingerprints after handling!
If you want a proper permanent coating, the wax will come off 100% with DAWN detergent.

How is it done and what is needed?
I would like to have a durable transparent layer on my copper flashlights that keeps the original copper color. Also the copper leaves an ugly smell of money or coins on your fingers.
I doubt that wax will protect the copper for very long. You would need a flat clear lacquer if you wanted something more durable.
