Jetbeam Jet-1 MK Review

Bought this light during one of the flash sales from Gearbest. I’m not going to be able to finish the review tonight, and will finish this weekend.
Here is what I have so far:

Youtube Review:

Construction:

This little guy is pretty standard. However there are a few things I dont like. First the pocket clip doesn’t hold to the pocket well. Found it sliding around quite a bit. Second I really have no need for the Jetbeam window breaker on a AA light. Really wish they removed that and just had a magnetic tailcap or just a plain flat one so it tailstands better.

Performance:

As far as brightness and mode spacing this light fits in with the competition quite well. Nothing remarkable to say, but it keeps up with the competition, some of which are more expensive lights.

Really a great performer with NIMH. This test was with Eneloop Pros. It had a nice steady output right to the very end. Very pleased with this long runtime.

Falls right into the goldilocks zone with a 14500. good balance of lumens and runtime.

Not too shabby with a Alkaline either.

Beam Shots:

My thoughts:

With a little redesign this could be a solid contender for a great EDC light. My primary complaints being the pocket clip could use a redesign and there is no reason for the threaded glass breaker accessory on a little light like this. I’m super happy with runtime / brightness performance. In the end I only paid like $12 for this and it massively outperformed some of the more expensive lights on the market. The beam is pretty good, and the mode spacing is nice. I’m not a huge fan of twist head AA flashlights and strongly prefer a tail switch anyway.

I really like the light, but it’s not quite pocket friendly enough for me to say it’s a great light.
*
would I buy it again?*

No. Only because it doesn’t carry well in the pocket. Otherwise performance was great.

I’m not to fond of twistys but I bought this a few weeks back and dropped it. 15ft fall still works but lense spiderwebed, bezel dented. Just ordered another cant beat it for $11 with points used. Good review, thx!

Bought 3 of them on the strength of your review for the family we are more than happy with them and I have ordered 5 more for christmas gifts for the rest of the family inlaws. Thank you for the review take care.

Is the threaded hole in the tailcap a standard tripod thread?

it works with my AmazonBasics 127cm (50”) Lightweight Tripod and my Albott 70-Inch Professional SLR Camera Aluminum Travel Tripod both of which mount my canon EOS cameras with no problems, so i assume they are standard thread.

Yep! It’s 1/8” standard tripod threading.

I have seen a problem with your runtime graph with NiMH, … I see a big problem!!!

If some one see the graph seems like the Jetbeam have more lumens…more time than the S15……but really I think that you are meassuring Lux at the center of the beam and you insert in the same graph the values for Jetbeam , Olight S15,…etc and are not comparables!
The Jetbeam have a intense hot spot but for example S15 have a lot more lumens and if you see the graph some people can think wrongly……!!!

I am wrong?

Jetbeam is good light (better with 14500), but it has with NiMH only around 120 lumens , a very poor power this days for a AA NiMH flashlight.

Nice review. Thank You!!

Given the price I think all short comings are acceptable. Try to buy a better light at this price? A fourth mode would be useful. Twisties wont wake up your wife at night either!
Decent tint not cold.
VALUE buy imo!

I agree. I really like this light and think its a fantastic little edc light.

Got quite a few small lights and this light all things considered is as good as or even better than anything in its class.

Smooth & light twist action for one handed use, running with lith battery its as bright or brighter as pretty much anything in its class, nice beam, not a harsh tint and decent throw for its size, I like its looks too.

Yes..
But who uses Ni-Mh nowadays. I don’t even own any.
AA. AAA. Li-Ion. Li-Po for me.

NiMh are oooold school. If you have to own a charger for battery’s.
May as well go straight to the Li-Po/Li-Ion from the AA. AAA.

I have an Astrolux AO1 on keyring. Running on AAA or Li-Po’s.
With either the Jetbeam Jet-1, or my Xanes XT01 Stainless.
(internal knuckle duster) in pocket for local walkabout.
Those AO1.s are a great little torch too with the Li-Po’s in there.

Updating to Astrolux S41/S or Imalent DN’s for longer walks.

The trouble nowadays, Is there are too many copies of the same thing
on the market. as well as others too.

I have 9 or 10 AAA torches. ALL named differently.
Tose things are dangerous to your collecting habit, Then some. Lethal.

ALL do same job, and mine just a fraction of those available on market.

Same with AA’s. Around 7 or 9 at present.
Don’t even ask about the 18650.18350/26650 torches.

And I’m only a collecting NOVICE.
It’s got to the stage I only look at Copper and Stainless now.
Slows me down a bit. I think.
There’s a couple in post at present. Can’t even remember what they are.
I know One is 9x3 magnets x 50.

Footy starts in ten.

Catch ya later.

I really like the Jetbeam Jet I MK. But I’m afraid that its discontinued or soon to be. Andrew & Amanda, along with Batteryjunction no longer carry it. Batteryjunction states that it is discontinued. I don’t know if that just means they don’t sell it anymore or that resellers can’t get them from Jetbeam anymore. I’ve probably bought a dozen of these lights and it was my go to light for inexpensive gifting to the non-flashaholic types. I actually sold my Eagletac D25A in place of the Jet I MK. That was because the Jet I MK was about the same efficiency and performance but 1/2 the price. Luckily I have two and family members have one also

Why would NiMH be old school?
