Hong Kong Turmoil - Orders from Sellers in Hong Kong

Recently ordered a knife from DHGate.com but the seller indicated that there are issues in shipping my knife from HK due to the protests/demonstrations.

They indicated that my order will take sometime until the protests/demonstrations has calmed down.

Anyone else have the same issues with shipping from HK?

I believe Andrew & Amanda is in HK. I received my K75 from them in like a week.

Was it a recent order? Placed my order last week.

I ordered it last month but the violent riots were already at high point at that time so don’t think shipping should be affected, unless the rioters decided to loot post offices and shipping companies since then.

I hope the people in Hong Kong get what they want, but I fear China will flex their muscles to squash the demonstrators.

I recently had a conversation with a friend from college who immigrated from Hong Kong that went back recently and said the protest are very, very violent and destructive. They are mainly young kids dressed in battle gear taking advantage of the situation to go around looking for trouble, vandalizing and defacing the city, beating up people that tell them to stop including old people, and having a great time while doing it like a mob of young gang bangers, despite all the HK and US news saying they are peaceful unarmed protests. He was taught to hate China from school like all HK students growing up in HK and he still don’t say anything good about China, but he questions why the news outlet here and in HK never show footages of the criminal behaviors of the rioters. He said he has never seen any police force as weak and pathethic as the HK police. If rioters here attacked police, they would get shot down in an instant but HK police are so weak, it encourages more vicious rioting because to the teen and early twenty rioters, it is thrilling and they have no fear of the police because they know police won’t shoot and afraid to hit hard for fear of media retribution. Also these rioters face no legal consequences for their destructive actions. He also said he couldn’t imagine how pathetic the Chinese government is in handling this issue and letting it get out of hand and not doing a thing. If it was in the US, troops would be sent very efficiently to quell the riots like the Rodney King riot and others. China needs to learn from the US how to manage its people.

It is sad what is happening in China but I agree with Racoon that China will flex their muscle and take down with force on the demonstrators.

BTW, the seller said he will try to send my knife out tomorrow.

Yes, the HK Police should take note from the French police against the Yellow vests.
ie. puncture eyes of protesters with flashball guns, throw fume grenades towards older people, etc…

Politics aside... Their police force has acquired a lot of high power flashlights. I saw a few AceBeam W30 footage on last week YT streaming.

Ordered a wristwatch from “San Martin” a Chinese microbrand and the shipping surprised me my estimating 1 to 2 MONTHS until delivery. Realized today their shipping goes through HK which explains it despite reviewers listing shipping times as ~2 week normally.

I thought Asian police departments use exclusively Olights. Interesting to see Acebeam being used by government entities too but I always feel Acebeam is more of an enthusiast brand geared towards hotrodding while Olight is more for practicality and reliability.

I seen some videos of rioters blasting police with what look like hundreds or thousands of powerful lasers and even senior citizens who tried to stop rioters were not spared. Just imagine the permanent eye damage caused, ouch! Now I’ll be very interested to see how those cops use that W30. Maybe a LEP vs conventional laser war (I’m thinking star wars  ). Would be interesting to watch but as my friend said, you won’t get to see any footage in US media portraying “protesters” being violent or in any negative light so you will need to rely on some HK or China friends to send you footages if these light saber battles ever happen.

They are in Morrisville NC. Your light was probably dropped shipped from HK.

I was staying at a hotel in Paris at the heart of the protest in April. My wife was really worried and said we should stay inside. I was like look at how many police there is, there’s nothing to worry about. Indeed there was nothing to worry about. The protest were very mild and kept under control and these were mainly protesters (with some exceptions) not armed rioters like in Hong Kong. If Paris protest turned into HK style protest, just imagine how many precious historic architecture would be destroyed and wasted. Glad that is not the case as I really like Paris.

From the news I have been seeing, the protests are mostly peaceful. I did not know it was bunches of 20’s running around causing problems.

All it is going to take is a small spark on either side for the Chinese Government to bring in the troops. On the other side, bringing in the troops will just make it worse.

Both sides are right to be concerned.

I’m still giving my support to HKers who are fighting not only for their freedom, but setting themselves as an example for freedom fighting worldwide.

According to my friend and what I’ve seen, it’s already far more than a “small spark”. It’s been violence and destruction out of hand which is why he is criticizing HK police and especially the Chinese government for being incompetent. Chinese government needs to learn from the West on proper crisis management and not just turn a blind eye and hope it stops on its own. To cure a disease, you need to treat it with medicine or therapy at the onset instead of waiting and let it worsen. Wait too long and it becomes a painful surgery like what happened at Beijing Tianaman Square. On the contrary, if you guys are old enough to remember the Rodney King riots in the west coast where rioters looted and destroyed everything, breaking any glass they see whether cars, houses, store fronts, etc., robbing and assaulting random citizens. George Bush immediately warned that the “brutality of a mob” would not be tolerated, and he would “use whatever force is necessary”. The gov sent 10-20k troops right away to quell the riot. No rioters dare mess with armed law enforcement not afraid to use brutal or fatal force (which definitely have been used). If not, there would have been far more deaths, injuries, and damaged or stolen properties likely much worst than the situation in HK.

Anyone on the thread, do not report him.

If he posts anything else, then do.

Say, other than the W30, have you guys/gals noticed any high power lights being used.

Funny you created an account just to post these. You must be searching the web for any mentions of the HK riots. These are exactly the stuff my friend was saying about the HK propaganda engine being out of control and too many fake news, yet what he sees is the news does not cover both sides of the story and completely ignore the atrocities done by the rioters. He said many front end protesters leading the riots are actually paid. I would believe my friend who I know than to trust a random post by someone or some organization monitoring the web to spread their agenda. But let’s keep politics out of this forum and stick to flashlights.

I remember seeing a picture someone posted of what looks like an Olight X9R Marauder. I’m really curious what they do with these super powerful lights. My guess is since the police is trying to refrain from physical conflicts with the rioters due to media hound dogs waiting to capture footages to cut and edit the instant a police uses any force to make headline videos like in the above, using super bright flashlight to blind a charging aggressive mob is probably a smart method and minimizes opportunity for reporters to create anti-police press. I would love to know how well it works as I have always been keeping at least one super bright flashlight ready at home and in the car for self defense and imagined how I would use it in the event of facing an intruder or a mob.

Btw has anyone been blasted by a high output flashlight from maybe 10’ to 20’ away and how does that affect your vision?

Are you for real?
