Finally a 6xR5

DX has a new 52mm drop-in for TR-1200 type bodies and probably for Maglite's with some minor modifications. The specs don't tell much but 6xR5 may be even better than a 3xT6, because of the enhanced throw of smaller emitters. I still love my 5xR2 setup as it is as throwy as a big head single XM-L but looks twice as bright as one.

That's bad... I want this much. I already have the 5x Q5 TR-1200; maybe it's time for an upgrade? I wonder how well it's driven...

They also have the 3x XM-L drop-in...

It's shaped differently though; would it fit the TR-1200 body? and with the poor heat-sinking, would it experience the dreaded Fry-Ray-itis?

Please post a beamshot if you buy it!

That is the first toilet-plunger style light I have seen that intrigues me. I'd love to see some beamshot comparisons of that one at Lightmalls.

That one is (supposedly) an XP-G while the drop-in is (supposedly) an XP-E.

Ugh....the non-threaded drop-in is killer.

Hmm, nice find. I was already in need of another TR1200 body and if I get this I may take these both for even lower.

What does XP-G and XP-E change in R5 bin BTW? I guess XP-E R5 doesn't give a throw like an XP-E R2 but maybe has a lower max current rating. XP_G is rated up to 1.5 A while XP-E is usually 1A max.

Does anyone know any discount coupons for lightmalls?

I doubt it's an XP-E R5. To me that clearly looks like XP-Gs.

agreed, and afaik, xpe r5 is not for sale

Manafont has the entire light for $40 now...
