*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Hello,

I need one more lantern. Please add me for one more. (4 total now)

Thank you

Here are this week’s additions to the interest list and the files linked to in post #1 have been updated.

Up to 2,466 on the list :smiley:

Hi. I am seeing some names listed multiple times. If I decide I want more than 1 unit, will I need to be on the list multiple times as well?? If so, I would like to purchase 2 please. Thank you!

Those numbers look like LED lumens, without accounting for optical losses (in the diffuser, for example). I did some calculations assuming 20% optical losses and came up with maximum outputs of ~570lm stock and ~740lm with the extra 7135 chips enabled.

Runtime at maximum output calculates to ~6.4 hours stock, or ~4.5 hours with the extra 7135 chips enabled. If you add a big enough external battery or USB powerbank, you should get ~25.6 hours stock, or ~8 hours with the extra 7135 chips enabled.

Once the internal cells deplete, both configurations should produce ~450lm for as long as you can supply external power.

To put those numbers in context, an old-style 40W incandescent bulb puts out ~450lm, and a 60W incandescent puts out ~800lm.

Here are my calculation posts, if you’re curious:

I’m probably spelling this backwards, but WOW! Appreciate your post Phlogiston

@Phlogiston, actually, with 7x 7135s, it would probably about 860 lumens.

There are 8 LEDs. Since efficiency with 8x LEDs at 1750mA is very high, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

At 300mA each, one LH351D produces 135 lumens.

135 lumens*8= 1080 lumens

1080 lumens*0,80 = 864 lumens.

Since optical efficiency will be slightly higher than 80% due to only having a shade, 900 lumens with 7x7135s is doable.

TLDR:
5x7135 = 635 lumens
7x7135 = 860 lumens

ToyKeeper guessed 600 lumens with 5 channels enabled, it sounds like everyone is in that ballpark.

Posting the number of units desired helps Sofirn gauge how many lanterns to produce for the BLF buy so it’s a good for everyone to do that. Of course nobody is obligated to buy the number that they express an interested in so it’s basically a best guess type of thing.

I added you for another 2 lanterns and you’ll see that reflected in next week’s updates.

Once again, thanks to all members involved for your great help in revising/completing the English manual. Special thanks to sbslider and stereodude for their efforts over the past weekend in looking at the details and trying to tie up any loose ends. :THUMBS-UP: :BEER:

So far, the manual seems to be 99.9% finished. Barry (Sofirn Shenzhen) has been asked some more questions but these remain unanswered at this point of time. These are...

  1. Maximum sizes of battery diameter and length.
  2. Final approval that the LT1 is IPX-7 rated as stated in the manual.
  3. Approval if the term of leaking batteries can be omitted as Li-Ion batteries normally won't leak.

Since none of these three questions will cause any real issue, sbslider and I think they can be left "as is" in the manual. Should we still get any more feedback by Sofirn I will be glad to supplement missing information into the manual accordingly. I will have a final look at the manual's layout today and forward it to Sofirn, so they can start printing it by tomorrow. Thanks to your great help, batch no. 1 (first 500pcs) will also be having the right manual already.*

(* provided that Sofirn did not start printing their initial draft of the manual already)

Edit: Sofirn apparently printed their initial version of the manual already, i.e. customers of the first 500 pcs (batch #1) are encouraged to use the updated manual hosted on my sharepoint, see post no. [tba].

We don’t need a manual, we need the lantern! :smiley:

put me down for one, ty

Interested in getting a lantern. Put me down for one, thanks!

Please find below the updated manual, checked and edited contentwise by sbslider and stereodude (once again, thank you guys!) and updated layoutwise by me today. You can also download the manual conveniently from my Sofirn sharepoint on Google drive, click ► here ◄.

A couple of pedantic suggestions. Feel free to ignore any or all of them:

Its easy to do. -> “It’s easy to do”
While ramping the LT1 blinks -> “While ramping, the LT1 blinks”
The LT1 has two different ramp modes; -> “The LT1 has two different ramp modes: ”
Not everything is covered in this diagram, please read the text -> “Not everything is covered in this diagram; please read the text”
theUI -> “the UI”
or stepped). . -> ” or stepped).”

The instructions are great. I wish all my lights had such detailed information!

Please put me down for two. Thank you!

Lux, sbslider, stereodude - that updated manual is…. Nice. :+1:

great work - thanks guys!

Looks good :+1:

Please add me to the GB list for one lantern.

Thanks!

Please put me down for one. Thx!
