Review: Solarforce P1

cone -

I didn't think you were suggesting that at all. I didn't mean to sound defensive - sorry about that.

I wish they would hook a brother up with some swag. I guess there's no reason to; I buy all their dang stuff anyway. Mostly lately, I buy from Solarforce for people that say, "can you get me a light like you got for so-and-so?"

sorryFoy

Laser etching... for example a custom flame job [street rodder stlye], lightening bolts, a tribal design, cats paws or maybe even a nice paisley ectched P1 host.

Absolutely no need to apologize to me. I was just trying to clarify my statements so that you didn't think I was being an a$$.

Great review.

I bet that would be a great winter time coat pocket host. Wouldn't feel as cold in the hand.

LOL

There are times (very rare) when I very much want to offend. The rest of the time I'm paranoid about doing it accidently.

Thanks for the pics & nice reviews. But this P1 is not my cup of tea!

Yeah . . . I'm thinking it's not mine either.

Sgt.led over at CPF sanded the top of the body tube and the back of the bezel on a P1 enough that the dropin contacted the aluminum body tube . He said it improved the heatsinking .

Something to consider .

;) :*

I want a P-1 that: will use a 26650 cell.

tail stand.

Then I would purchase one. >)

I got my yellow P1 today, along with the "new" Solarforce drop-in. Very nice combination. A couple of observations about the P1

-It is very lightweight. Amazingly light, esp with 2 x cr123 in it

-Not a good glovebox light because the forward-clicky is exposed and may get accidently triggered

-Does not tailstand.

-I love it in yellow. Easy to find, low-glare, even the bezel is not glossy, but a flat black

-There is a small gap between the tailcap and the body, I presume for the addition of a Solarforce lanyard ring. I will probably drop an "o" ring in that spot to make it look more finished.

- If you are allergic to the fumes that fresh plastics give off, you may want to let this host sit out in your garage for a week or so. It comes out of the packaging with a real strong plasticky smell (I'm sure someone here can correctly name that odor) that some may not like. Give it a couple days to aerate.

This may be my favorite Solarforce light for use around the house. It's just cool.

Actually, this is a very nice option to have available. I work at a power plant, where electricians are not supposed to have metal-bodied flashlights (everybody has a Mag though...). This is a good option for working in electrical enclosure where shorting/sparking, etc. is a bad thing. If I couldn't carry my normal P60 host and needed a nice light, I would definitely go for one of these... Probably the Yellow, even though it looks like a Pelican derivative. Now, why can't they just throw in some glow powder and make the ENTIRE BODY GITD???

How awesome would that be?! All I can say is, "Coke in a glass bottle!"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexican_Coke

I love me some of that!

I would push my Mother off a bridge for a Coke in a glass bottle. Not a tall bridge, mind you, but a bridge nonetheless. There is a tool store close to where I live that has an old Coke machine waaaaay in the back that only takes dimes. Ten cent Coke. Suckers! Sometimes I go in there just for the pop.

Evil, "HAHAHAHAHAHA!"

You know what we call Mexican Coke in Germany? Coke.

At least here in Texas, you can buy Mexican Coca Cola in glass bottles (sweetened with Real Sugar!) at most any Wal Mart. You can even buy it by the flat at Sam's clubs. Most grocery stores have it as well! It's usually around $1/bottle and is much better than the corn-syrup sweetened Coke they manufacture in the USA...

Can we use this thread as an example of hijacking??? JEEEeeeezzzzzzz, from a S/F review to the benefits of Mexican Coke...

Sorry, but no; this can't be considered a hijacking. It's actually a full-out derailment. In fact, we went so far as to completely remove the rails, sell them for scrap metal, and then used the income from that to satisfy our Coke addiction!

Is it the same smell that's in a Harbor Freight store, you know, the smell of China? I have a Chinese made motorcycle helmet, and even after riding at 80 mph for hours, and letting it sit in the garage all winter, the thing STILL smells. My Chinese shotgun smells the same too. I can't imagine working in one of those plastics factories.

Thanks for the great review Foy, I plan on getting one of these at some point.

I don't know about anybody else, but I found that quote so funny.

Oh, and Keltex, I'm on my way!
