Fireflies PL47G2 Discussion Thread

Samsung 50E/LG M50: SST-20 4000k/Nichia 219B

SST-20 5000k/6500k: Lishen 4000mAh

XP-L HI: Samsung 40T

I say the Lishen LR2170SF is the best 21700 cell for the PL47 regardless of emitter option. It is a 15A cell and anything higher current will not make much difference in a quad. The capacity is not too far from LG M50 and Samsung 50E but it is much higher current and the superior discharge curve ensures better performance as the battery drains.

Edit, come to think about it for the 219b version, don’t think you should use the LR2170SF. Might be pushing the 219B too hard. SST-20 version should be fine though. For 219B, either the LG M50 or 50E is safer.

So if I were to use an 18650 with a PL47G2 with 219B, I can’t use a 30q in it at the risk of burning the LEDs?

I think, what they meant is tint shift as the led goes through from lower current to higher current. Basically, min amp will give x tint whereas max amp draw will give y tint.

So, tint shift count as you don’t want it overly out from the range tint level itself. Esp 95cri tint, it need to have smaller increment change/shift above or below 95cri level.

Look at xpl, you can use higher current cell bcos you don’t have to worry about tint shift as it. You aim for lumen, hiher current higher lumen then.

When it come to cri 95, here current draw matter most as tint shift happen more severely. Think about the change can be seen.

I am waiting for a Fireflies PL47 Gen2 from Nealsgadgets, and also a pair of 21700 purple Shockli 4550mah from Aliexpress. These Shockli batteries if I’m not mistaken are Lishen LR2170SF remarked, according to the review of this Shockli in Lygte-Info, they are very good. My only concern is that they enter on the tube of the PL47, because its width is 21.7mm, which is quite large, I hope to be lucky and that I can use them.

@Fireflies:
Are the aux leds multicolored or only blue? Do they have different modes(off, low, high, heartbeat)?

Just blue, can’t recall modes. Really want one of these but still waiting on a ylp I ordered to try out. Different colors would be a cool upgrade

Thanx!

Nothing much changed compared tot gen1 in my opinion, except the bezel and better assembled inside(no more Broken legs on the optic?).
It also looks like the pocket clip many people complained about is still the same?
Also, champagne color isn’t available anymore,only black…What a shame
I’m gonna pass this one and stay with my gen1

Look what the mailman just dropped off

Just some quick pics, first impressions are good.

Anduril firmware has the double click levels in lockout. So it’s a fairly recent build it ships with. The tailcap magnet is strong enough to hold the light in funny angles, even on round pipes.
The switch has had a huge upgrade. It’s firm and tactile, no more squishy button. And the switch SMD’s are aligned, yay.

Wait a sec, mine order from bang good still in processing till now…maybe shipped by end of oct….

If I’m not mistaken, your are order from Nealgadgets, am I right??

i42Dk, tell me more… how the beam? Brighter?

Glad to see one had a positive comment on pl47g2…

The beam is perfect. A bit bigger than the stock optic in a Emisar D4. I ordered mine with 219B.
Side by side with my D4Ti, with 219b. The PL47v2 is a bit brighter. Being firmware or other factors i don’t know. But it def’ has more power.

The first pic is a comparison of a D4S with tint mixed 219C’s. 2x 4000K and 2x 5000K. vs the 219b’s 4500K.

Other pic is the “ice blue” AUX leds compared to the D4S’ cyan AUX. The PL47v2 is bright. The AUX settings are; OFF - FLASHING - ON.
There is no low for some reason. Looking forward to getting a flashing adapter so i can mess with the firmware

Other than that tiny little firmware thing, and wishing the magnet was a tad stronger. It’s still a 9.5/10 recommendation.

I ordered mine directly from FF a few days after they released it

Received my PL47 G2 with 219b sw45k. First impressions are very good. The switch is muuuch better than on the first models and the ice cool aux lights are neat. The tint is glorious neutral white with rosy tint, which brings out color beautifully. Very happy with the backlighted switch too. Didn’t realize this had a modified Anduril, was a bit surprised that there was no blinks at floor/ceiling/7135. But no important features are missing from what I can see. It even has the manual memory, which was added recently (five clicks from on).

Wow, duv –0,0098 on turbo, that’s monstrous :smiling_imp:

I’d happily take something mildly negative duv instead.

It would be also nice, if FireFlies could source SST-20 from the GDx tint quadrant (slightly below 3500K).

Wow!! So far so good. 9.5 rate? Gosh… I was right about this light, high cri, high power, 21700 capabilities and anduril…it just right for what I’ve looking for!

Maukka also like it…anyway big thank for cri test and now confirm High cri from this light is awesome news.

But why? isn’t that indicator for as a “FLOOR” and “CELLING” of ramping mode. Its not a big deal, IDK…what do you think guys? We still had time since it hasn;t shipped yet and can direct it to Freeme if script can be reverse back to original…

@hasddie293, you are going to absolutely love it.

It’s not a big deal though. Would prefer the original way, but as long as you configure it right, it’s going to matter at all.

High CRI with a very nice balanced floody beam(SST-20 of course).
Superb handling.
Stronk magnet.
FD2 SST-20s. I got lucky since the first units came with FD2 SST-20s.
Great Anduril UI.
Creamy output
Good thermal handling.
Stupid good waterproofing.

Well, hand-off then… let just assumed all good to go… as I said before it not that big deal. Ok move along.

Another good credit from BlueSwordM, have fun there.

Some standby drain measurements:

PL47-2 AUX off: 0.09mA (6.3years to drain it’s 5000mAh cell)
PL47-2 AUX on: 1.75mA (119days/0.33year to drain it’s 5000mAh cell)

The AUX leds are BRIGHT, but also sucks a lots of juice. As a comparison; the light consumes 3mA on the ramp floor (219b leds).

But i use the AUX leds to indicate the light is “active/not locked out”. I always unscrew the tailcap to lockout my e-switch lights. So the high AUX drain is no biggie

I like that even with turning the aux leds off, the two switch backlights are still on and like you tested, their drain is negligible.
