What is Your Favorite 1xAAA Light?

can you share a photo of where the pencil lead needs to be applied to fix the NMM in the Ti3?

since I found a lube that works with Titanium threads (google munky spunk) I like my original Titanium Ti3 much better. IF the presently shipping version, on Amazon, did not now have NMM I could recommend it as a host for a Nichia

I agree the Tools w eSwitch are nice, but I dont know of any available w 219b anymore… There is one advertised on ebay, but they are using old ad copy and actually ship with 219c. They are MLH.

The Copper Tool w eSwitch on Drop is LMH, with a 219c, which is considerably greener than the 219b that is NLA

The TiTool is very elegant, but, I dislike touching the brass ring, it gets hotter than the rest of the light, when using High mode.

The High modes on the Tools only have 30 minute runtimes now, they used to be more efficient. The Medium and Low modes are still efficient, and using High mode for long is a quick way to run out of batteries in an AAA.

My perfect AAA is a Copper Tool w eSwitch and a Nichia 219b swap.

when I want smaller, I like the MLH Maratac Copper AAA (it now ships w 219c, same as the Lumintop Tools that Drop sells, I prefer the earlier 219b versions, or an LED swap to sw45k)

Dunno if I could call it my “favorite”, but I’m using the Aider/Ultratac AAA doodad most, out of all my AAA lights, mainly to burn down moribund AAA cells before they start fizzing and leaking.

I’m bummin’.

Easily a third of my lights are AAA (some smaller).

Now I’m sad that they are not useful. * sniff *

I bought 2 yesterday —- one was a Tool AAA CU —— :stuck_out_tongue:

In case somebody is thinking I hate AAA lights. You’re wrong. This is part of my collection. I’m quite certain there’s more of them. Somewhere. And the rest I have given away. As I said earlier: they make nice gifts.

But with my eyesight, their usefulness is rather limited. To me. Thanks for all the “funny” remarks about that.
As you can see, I’m having a hard time focussing properly.

BTW: the tall one on the right is proof of life. That is the Tribute to Old Lumens light CRX gave me.
The little one on the very left is the Ultrafire UF-T1 I was referring to before.

nice photo
my eyes are old too
my used less lights are on the bottom…

after my aaa phase, I ventured into 16340 and presently have upgraded to 18350

the copper tool w eswitch, sw45k, and captive clip is my tour de force in aaa

Nice to notice that not everybody is into black.
At the moment my needs when modding items are upgraded to a 14500 on the brim of my cap.

Though there are two AAA lights that are still very useful for me. Hanging a Playfox K1 or Fenix Liplight on the collar of my dog prevents me from tripping and breaking my neck over her when we make our evening walk.

Lately I’ve found myself mostly skipping over new lights if they’re only available in black, unless there’s some compelling technological feature or something.

I don’t use my AAA lights as much anymore, like Jon I have transitioned to my D4 with and 18350. But I’m going backpacking with my wife for a few days, and the one light I’m bringing is my Ti-3. Clipped to the brim of my visor, its a great headlamp, and I typically only use moonlight or the 10 lumen mode. The lithium primary has 3+ weeks of backpacking on it already, guessing I’ll get another 5 nights no problem. Weight with battery and clip 19g.

agree!
HatLamp clip option is a priority feature for me, and I like aspheric beams for HeadLamp applications when prepping, cooking, and eating food at camp

in aaa I favor the Sofirn C01 w Yuji 5600k
in 16340 I like the Klarus Mi1C aspheric w hat clip, modded to N219b 4500k

here are a couple more hatlights… a maratac aaa w sw45k, and a 16340 Utorch w NW xp-l

oh, and here is my favorite ad for an AAA light, click pic… same yuji beam option as the C01

The 219b 4000k is sweet.

@jonslider, I did compare my C01s with my Ti-3. The 3200K one is tempting, I may bring that one also? My 5600K seems a bit dim compared to the Ti-3, although I like the color. Decisions . . .

I agree the 3200 is a great option in the tent, nice ambiance
and agree the 5600 is a bit dim except sitting at a table, so also agree the Ti3 is most versatile

nice choices!

except, the Ti3 is Not High CRI

dont you have one of those 219c right angle mankers with programmable firefly?

have a great campout!

What light ?

I love AAA lights and have more then i care to admit. Although i have tons of killer lights, the ones i use the most are the ones i can carry without too much inconvenience. However, i’m more comfortable carrying a 14500 Jetbeam Jet MK I with an AAA Astrolux Copper A01 as a backup. And i use them a lot almost everyday. How did i manage before that is puzzling me. When i wear a jacket i do have a D4 and an extra AAA or AA in there. Cannot have too many lights isn’t it?

Still, one of the most impressive AAA/10440 light i do carry on occasions is the above mentioned Ultratac K18, Al, brass or SS version. A real bright little jewel. In the same vein i would mention the Lumintop Ant and Tool Ti with e-switch. Real classy lights.

Jetbeam µ is good too. Compact, lightweight and reliable twisty with useful modes, brightness and beam.

I’ve received a couple Sofirn C01S BLF this summer but gifted most of them. I have to get used to it but it is promising and quite cheap. No hurt in trying one.

PS: When you think about it, AAA lights are so small and lightweight that it’s rather straightforward to carry a few just in case. I believe i have half a dozen in my backpack… The rational is that they don’t ad much weight or space compared to carrying spare batteries in a box - and they act as protection for them, on top of being functional lights.

Yes, but its too heavy. ha ha. Actually, it could be nice, but wouldn’t work very well as a head lamp clipped to my visor. I don’t have the head band for it.
