Kratax mini torch or Olight S1R BATON II? URGENT!

Hey, out of curiosity, I need to ask a question: you told me Kratax Torch 900 lumen is like WUBEN E05 900 Lumen. Why should I buy WUBEN E05 instead of Kratax?
Kratax is almost the same but it has more options: adjustable focus and it is more recent. Then there is also another aspect: I live in Italy and WUBEN E05 costs 43,26 € whereas the Kratax costs 25,99 €.
Look at the links:
https://www.amazon.it/WUBEN-Luminoso-Magnetica-Ricaricabili-Impermeabile/dp/B07KP7QNNL

I think you suggest WUBEN E05 because you know it and you don’t know fine Kratax.
Just to know your opinion.
Thank you.

Honestly, where is the adjustable focus on that light? It has a reflector, no “zoom” function can be seen on that! The adjustable focus seems to be a “click bate”, not a function…

More than that, the UI seems to be ambiguous, it is not well explained on the amazon page! You can’t say id strobe is on the regular cycle or not, if it has memory or not, if it starts on Turbo or in low…

It is sure that the wuben E05 doesn’t have the perfect UI, but the Kratax steps away even further, I guess!

About the price, the Wuben is always more expensive, and it seems that you have urgency, otherwise I would advise you to check AliExpress where you can find a Wuben for 34€!

If you have the money for it, check this german store, in case you prefer the Wuben!
This is the TLF version of the Wuben, with a different LED and a different UI:
https://www.selected-lights.de/led-lampen/selected-lights-wuben-e05-taschenlampe-mit-samsung-cri-90-led-700-lumen-fuer-1x-14500-akku-tlf-version/a-3275

And a different price, though…

That light does not have adjustable focus. Just get the olight or the acebeam suggested by Yokiamy, both great lights.

No one knows what this Kratax really is.

Besides, I don’t understand why coosing between both lights. The Kratax taken as Wuben E05, it differs from the Olight in any aspect. Different form factor, battery, UI, charging, beam, price … you name it.

Between both lights there are lots of other options. None of them meets your requirements?

All you are wonderful guys, I thank you a lot for your help. I think I will buy acebeam. Thanks again one.

Hey, I bought the Acebeam TK16 in this store: outdoormesser.de - english

Best price and fast shipping!
Even when compared to amazon!
It is a german store, maybe it can reach Italy even faster

Amazon reviews are… highly variable in their utility at best. One of the more negative reviews made some reasonable technical points (most importantly that the Osram version does not have as much throw as advertised), but another reviewer’s chief complaints are that it gets hot when making 1300 lumens and doesn’t run on disposable AAs.

I like the TK16/SST-20 over its direct competition for its tail e-switch, standard battery (with USB port if that’s your thing), color quality, and throw (unlike the Osram version, the SST-20 has more throw than advertised (around 170m at turn-on). It’s not perfect; I don’t like its clip much, nor the plastic optic being exposed. I’d also prefer… different texturing.

Zac, I believe you, but why most of people buy Olight S1R BATON II and few people just buy Acebeam TK16?
Look at the linkks.

Anyway I’m buying Acebeam TK16 because it is also nicer esthetically.
Out of curiosity: which of both mini torch is newer? Then it is cheaper in Europe, look at the pic, hoping that is the right mini torch. Could you check it please?

Thank you.

*PS: *Anyway what penalizes Acebeam TK16 torch is the the absence of the battery charger. Needless to say, it is recharged with the phone charger. It isn’t the same because the battery and the power to recharge Acebeam TK16 is different.

Looking at it from a different perspective…. the Kratax looks like it could be an interesting side e-switch mod host. But, several things could come into play like the driver and how the e-switch is mounted and does it have a real led shelf and is it glued up solid. I am not willing to drop 30 bux to find out, would drop maybe 20.

Thank you very much for your advice. Instead with regard to the lack of battery carger on Acebeam TK16, which would you but between it and Olight S1R BATON II?

The Olight S1 series has been around for several years, and the TK16 is new as of this summer. I don’t have accurate sales numbers to say which is more popular.

Building a USB charger into the battery is a fairly common approach, which Olight also used on their S1 Mini. The battery is a standard 16340 Li-ion; you can use any 16340 rated for about 5A current, and you can charge the USB battery in a standard slot charger. I prefer using a dedicated slot charger like the Xtar VC2S rather than charging built into the light or battery.

Some people do prefer Olight’s magnetic charging, but it uses a proprietary cable and a proprietary battery instead of standard ones.

You are right on everything but maybe Olight S1 torch is better than TK16 for travellers because they don’t have to carry with them a battery charger too. I’m making an error?
PS: I don’t understand the precise battery od TK16, maybe is it a normal CR123A? Is it possible to charghe the TK16 battery (IMR16340NP) with a smartphone charger?

Olight sells a charger that is nearly as small as the Baton chargin cable. Very nice for travelling as it charges everything LiIon and NiMH. Comes with a nice pouch.

Indeed, or the folomov A1 charger.

Hey, maybe I did’t undertsand anything. But isn’t the Olight S1R Baton II charger included in the package? Do you have to buy it separately? :open_mouth:
Is it possible to charge Olight S1R Baton II battery with a charger working at 110 / 220volts? What precise charger do I have to buy? I will use the torch when I travel around the world.

Geuzzz,
wonderful news. But what if I wanted to charge the TK16 battery with a charger working at 110 / 220volts? What precise charger please?

You have to put the battery charger in a typical usb charger like your phone charger. These convert 230v to the needed 5v.

Sorry, I edited my last post in the meantime you were writing the reply.
I’m asking what are the 110/220 volts chargers (electricity), as for Olight S1R Baton II as Acebeam TK16? I need the precise models please.

The battery that comes with the TK16 is a 16340 with an added MicroUSB port. It can charge from any USB power supply including smartphone chargers, USB ports on computers, etc…. It can also be charged in a slot charger like the Xtar VC2S, and the TK16 can also use a standard 16340 without a USB port.

The battery that comes with the S1R is a 16340 with an extra negative contact added to the positive end. It can charge with a proprietary USB-A to magnetic connector cable that is included with the light, and also requires a USB power supply like a smartphone charger or PC USB port.

My TK16 came with an acebeam branded 16340 without USB connection.

Most single cell chargers work with usb though.

Hmm… I thought they were shipping with USB batteries now.

The Olight UC and Folomov A1 are very compact USB chargers with magnetic contacts that can be used to charge the included battery outside of the light.
